In a nice way, I didn't literally mean you were frightening! I wouldn't want to argue with anyone on lit - let alone anyone so quick and sharp as yourself, and from reading the threads, a person has got to be mighty bright to keep up with you, I'm like that (i think...)I'm not always as dopey as I seem and I know how difficult it is to argue with myself! It was a stupid arguement was what I really meant - basically 'why is so-and-so [in this case you] such a bitch', completely pointless.

Tiggs, if you have something to say critically to other authors then why don’t you PM them. No need to get public about it. We are all doing this for fun, and I for one don’t like to have a public critic.

The use of any public forum immediately opens yourself up to public criticism. Everyone has an opinion, and some more than one.

When I post my views here, I expect them to be challenged. That they are not more often is a constant relief. Some have been in other forums I frequent. When that happens I read the input from an intellectual and not a visceral viewpoint. If the feedback is valid, I take it. If not, then not. We are (or should be!) adults here at Lit. Sure I could tell every critic to fuck themselves, but what would that get me? Besides, I’m not a child. I can give it out and take it. I can’t critique someone else’s work w/o letting them do the same to mine.

Some guy (I forget who, and don't feel like searching for the thread) asked for a story about a nude sunbather getting a tan, and mentioned her peeling off her T shirt. Tiggs made a comment along the lines of 'You don't get tans fully dressed.' (Words my own. Can't remember the exact ones.) Guy gets pissed, and starts a public bitch and moan session.

If he didn't want feedback on his idea, he shouldn't have posted it. That goes double for those who expect others to do the writing for them! If I had intended to write up that tale, you’d better believe I’d have responded with a "Please clarify this point, S.V.P." Why should she send a PM to correct him? Other people could benefit from the feedback, too. That's why I post in the Forum whenever I can; maximum exposure for your views on a given topic.

In life there will always be those who you get along with and those you don't. By the time someone reaches 18, I would have expected them to learn how to deal with mild rebuke or criticism. Sadly, this isn't the case. You have to grow a thick skin if you want to play with teh big kids, folks. It isn't all nice-nice in the sandbox.

I'm for letting this thread die. It has nothing to do with the development of Story Ideas. Let' s get back to the porn writing folks! That is why we come here.

I think constructive criticism is wisdom, and should be objective and should be given tactfully, sparingly, and not for trivial things. We’re not professional writers. We’re just doing this for fun. And to have someone being so critical of one ruins the fun.
Now I’ve read some of Tigs’s criticisms, mostly the ones that were directed at me, and I think that most are trivial and subjective.
Tigs is not the appointed public critic for this board, and I’d like to ask her to put her energies to more constructive things, and, well,…get a life.
Maybe I should practice what I preach, (and PM Tigs) but I want the people whom Tigs has affected to read this.

I'm going to take that last bit of advice you mentioned, the one about getting a life. No way am I going to expend any more effort on this topic after this post. Do what you gotta do, my friend; PM her, start a coalition of 'Chastened Authors against Tiggs,' or whatever. If you got the time and want to burn effort, hop to it, mate.

As for me, I'm going to continue banging out some stories, then head outside this afternoon and enjoy the fair weather. You see, I do have a life and won't let anyone steal any portion of it from me.

Why are you giving Tiggs this kind of power over you? I'm sure she didn't ask for it. Don't you find it draining?
