BTW, Breaky
If your "job" is to extoll the virtues of NAFTA
Then you cant ever ever see the negative of it and will skew all date for the positive
So what YOU say doesnt count
Is NAFTA the Canadian NFL![]()
My job isn't to 'extol' anything.
I work in international trade. And there are a LOT of things about NAFTA I don't like.
I don't like how NAFTA basically gave away Canada's energy program and whored out our natural resources. I don't like how it became a protectorate for US Agriculture, essentially bankrupting Mexican farms and causing the destruction of the Canadian Family Farm in favour of Corporate Agri-Business.
I don't like how it entrenched Mexico as the Labour Force of the west without implementing some kind of effective wage control.
But, after being in the business for as long as I have, I've seen a massive upswing in how efficient North America has become as an exporter. You have to understand, before NAFTA, we were GREAT importers. We LOVED to buy from other countries but we were lousy exporters. Now, we still are great importers, but we've balanced that with much more effective, efficient and profitable export policies and practices.
