I just figured it out.

If one person misuses the quote tags, and the next person quotes that person, then it will continue to be messed up thereafter for each susequent person who quotes any of them.

The reason is that you get a closing quote tag without a starting quote tag, and it confuses the system.

I so want to harass you for being worried about correct quotes when we have photos of the lovely Dirty_Dream to look at, but:
