Will Republicans take the ACA off their wish list now?

They got a big victory on coal today. The court ruled that the EPA didn't take the costs associated with coal companies reducing mercury and other pollutants in considering their guidelines. So much for the Constitution. It would cost those scumbag Koch brothers too much to clean up their act. Even China thinks coal is too dirty. Coal is dying as an energy source and the right wing members of the court just gave the Kochs an early Christmas gift, and gave the the rest of America more cancer and lung disease. Happy Holidays! David and Charles should have "Aqualung" as their ring tone. It'll make them smile.

I heard. Haven't had the opportunity to read up on it yet.

I doubt it. I just don't think they'll ever learn.

I doubt it too, just as I doubt the Republicans will drop the plank in their platform opposing Roe v. Wade any time soon.

The Republican Party is a coalition of reactionaries who oppose various decisions the electorate has made since the election of Franklin Roosevelt in 1932. Republican activists cannot turn back the calendar. They can jump up and down, waving their hands, and shouting, "No!"

The Electorate tends to vote for the more conservative policies and rules and laws. Even in CA, The Electorate voted to oppose SSM. I don't believe there has ever been a vote on abortion, but polls show it would be illegal if The Electorate made the decision.

When it was on the ballot, I voted for SSM and I would vote in favor of legalized abortion if it were ever a ballot measure, but I was and would probably be in the minority.

ETA: Here is a definition of "electorate" BTW:

Full Definition of ELECTORATE

1: the territory, jurisdiction, or dignity of a German elector

2: a body of people entitled to vote

You can ignore the first definition, because it has nothing to do with the discussion here.

According to the most recent Gallup survey 19% of the American people think abortion should be illegal in all circumstances.

I'm surprised to see it is opposed that strongly. 29% say it should be legal under any circumstances. I am one of that number, although I was not asked by Gallup. 70% say it should be always illegal or legal only under certain circumstances. I would assume this would be in case of rape or incest or when the mother's health is endangered and maybe a few others.

In any event, even though abortions are opposed by most of the electorate, the SCOTUS ruled they were legal. I say "Hooray for the Supremes" for accepting that people should be free to make the choices on matters of personal importance.

Two years from now, assuming Hillary continues to shoot herself in the foot, the GOP should have a majority in both houses of Congress and the White House, and they can repeal Obamacare and otherwise undo much of the damage Obama has done and is still doing.

Here is a list of Senators up for reelection in 2016. When the Democrats take the WH and the Senate we shall see what happens.

The Dems are not exactly in danger of losing Vermont

DEMOCRATS

Michael Bennet (Colorado)
Richard Blumenthal (Connecticut)
Barbara Boxer (California) retiring in 2016
Patrick Leahy (Vermont)
Barbara Mikulski (Maryland) retiring in 2016
Patty Murray (Washington)
Harry Reid (Nevada) retiring in 2016
Brian Schatz (Hawaii)
Charles Schumer (New York)
Ron Wyden (Oregon)

Whereas the Republicans have seven drawing strong challengers in states President Obama carried twice,

REPUBLICANS

Kelly Ayotte (New Hampshire)
Roy Blunt (Missouri)
John Boozman (Arkansas)
Richard Burr (North Carolina)
Dan Coats (Indiana) retiring in 2016
Mike Crapo (Idaho)
Chuck Grassley (Iowa)
John Hoeven (North Dakota)
Johnny Isakson (Georgia)
Ron Johnson (Wisconsin)
Mark Kirk (Illinois)
James Lankford (Oklahoma)
Mike Lee (Utah)
John McCain (Arizona)
Jerry Moran (Kansas)
Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)
Rand Paul (Kentucky)
Rob Portman (Ohio)
Marco Rubio (Florida)
Tim Scott (South Carolina)
Richard Shelby (Alabama)
John Thune (South Dakota)
Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania)
David Vitter (Louisiana)

This is rather humorous. Point to anytime in the last several decades that the republicans were running things and the country as a whole was doing well. Sorry, historically, factually the nation does much better under democrats.

This is the way things go. If only we could get democrats to vote in midterm elections.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by *real* libertarians. The ones that I know that have run for office, both locally and at the state level.....no thank you.

I doubt it. I just don't think they'll ever learn.

It's so much easier to just whine and piss and moan about Obama's accomplishments. They have no idea how to do anything. They're going to get their dark money from Charles and David Koch for doing nothing. And since the Supreme Court just said the Kochs can dump as much mercury from their dirty coal fired power plants, there will be so much more money to go around. "Love the smell of mercury in the morning."

Well, there were the Eisenhower years and the Reagan years and the Clinton years, when both houses of Congress were run by the GOP.

Tthey can repeal Obamacare and otherwise undo much of the damage Obama has done and is still doing.

What damage is ACA and Obama doing exactly?

Things have improved quite a bit since (R) was running things. More money is being made, less people dying in wars we have no actual interest in, less money being poured into a war that's not doing anything for us, more people got HC coverage...people are even makin' babies again.

So what exact damage are you referring too? Because I'm pretty sure the last team to totally fucking crash this bitch was the republicans and their mighty pillar of conservatism G.W. Bush, not Obama.

If you could explain what good Reagan ever did that would be great. His presidency is what started the decline of Anerica's middle class.

I suppose you will also try and take credit down the line for all of the great thing's Obama's now doing? Clinton faced obstruction on nearly the same level that our current President is. Clinton managed to clean up a lot of Reagdn's mess, but not without a huge fight. Why do you think they were so desperate to get him out of office?

No one loves entitlements silly. No one wants folks to be hungry, or to be without health care. I bet even you do not wish hunger and sickness on people. Do you?
