I absolutely adore the women in my life - family, friends, lovers - but I disagree with this sentiment. While we all should be able to rely on those around us, and be reliant for them in turn...All people are ultimately responsible for their own success.

Imagine if I said that a woman's success has a lot to do with the kind of man she chooses to have in her life? That would be grossly ignorant of the woman and her own accomplishments and achievements.

Having said all that, I may well completely misunderstand what you mean by it, and I don't mean to say that in an inflammatory way.

Yay! someone actually took the time to read a post...

I think to an extent this statement is true and goes both ways. Who we choose as a mate says a lot about us as individuals. Take, for instance the 90 year old millionaire dating the twenty something gorgeous but obviously gold digging woman. He chooses to be with her because she is beautiful while not caring that she does not really love him. (you can argue this is not always the case but 9 times out of 10 that woman is with him for the money and nothing more...also it is merely an example)

Or another example going the other way. The woman that stays with a man even though he beats her. That speaks volumes about the woman.

Just my opinion on what that one meant. I didn't create it, I only interpret what I read as my opinion.
