One could argue that the emotion induced via the applied media and subsequent passive aggressive trolling is undermining their own position that it isn't art. I'm not going to weigh in and say if something is good or bad (that's a useless subjective personal opinion). However, applying specific prompts to utilize genAI to produce images the way you intend is a skill (even if one easily mastered). I'd also note that most people don't care what kind of easel, canvas or oil paints are used in traditional works nor if the paints were derived from mixtures of soil, berries and natural ingredients vs a highly refined mixture of titanium dioxide, dyes, synthetic oils produced en mass in a mass production facility (how dare they! 😂).
All that being said, the notion of copyright is fascinating in this area with much precedence yet to be established (the courts are loaded up with cases already). Time will tell.
In the meantime, if it feels good do it!
