Y2K bug in NASA climate data

I've doubted the official hype for years because it's well known (or should be) that climate changes in cycles that have nothing to do with humans, and have been doing so for millions of years. There have been many periods warmer than now, many colder than now, and many with higher levels of CO2.

What?? I thought you had Proof it was all created by the Bush administration?

What are you on about now? You sound like you've gone off the deep end.

Further news on the subject of NASA's error and the result

Note from one of the bloggers at "Climate Audit" (John A [climateaudit@gmail.com]) -- where the error was first reported: "CA has been knocked off the internet by a DDOS attack. We are going to move the CA domain to a temporary page while I move the CA files and databases to a new server behind a much better firewall. Its obvious that someone can't take constructive criticism. We should be back in a few days"

All fish have some gold in them.

All fish have some mercury in them.

I was raised on Rachael Carson and the imminent Global Cooling catastrophe.

I'm more worried about AIDS being no more than Subacute Myelo-Optico-Neuropathy which, being Japanese, should be familiar to you too...

Here's one for you. Why were the locations of the temperature recording locations recently hidden by our government?

Um, so what?

That's a totally different matter from INDUSTRIAL TOXINS,

Are you just pretending to be STOOPID or are you really that dumb?

That's nice. I don't see the relevance of your childhood, however.

Okay, you just proved that YOU ARE REALLY STUPID.

Guess why?

What the fuck are you on about?

Get off the drugs, moron. Everytime you post that type of silliness you destroy your own credibility because it's evidence that you can't even pay attention to the facts and points of previous posts.

How about the 8000 year old city found under the English Channel?

Seems global warming melted the glaciers that submerged it......must have been all the man made greenhouse gases!

The whole Global Warming bullshit is man made gases.....

http://www.livescience.com/history/070809_aqua_dig.html

Fascinating about the Stone Age settlement. Not surprised at all.

I don't see any of the alleged "scientific consensus" supporting the 'man-made' global warming theory.

Dr. Chris de Freitas, climate scientist, associate professor, University of Auckland, New Zealand: "I can assure Mr. Gore that no one from the South Pacific islands have fled to New Zealand because of rising seas. In fact, if Gore consults the data, he will see it shows sea level falling in some parts of the Pacific."

Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner, emeritus professor of paleogeophysics & geodynamics, Stockholm University, Sweden: "We find no alarming sea level rise going on, in the Maldives, Tovalu, Venice, the Persian Gulf and even satellite altimetry if applied properly."

Dr. Paul Reiter, Professor - Institut Pasteur, Unit of Insects and Infectious Diseases, Paris, France, comments on Gore’s belief that Nairobi and Harare were founded just above the mosquito line to avoid malaria and how the mosquitoes are now moving to higher altitudes: "Gore is completely wrong here - malaria has been documented at an altitude 2500 m - Nairobi and Harare are at altitudes of about 1500 m. The new altitudes of malaria are lower than those recorded 100 years ago. None of the "30 so called new diseases"" Gore references are attributable to global warming, none."

Dr. Mitchell Taylor, Manager, Wildlife Research Section, Department of Environment, Igloolik, Nunavut, Canada: "Our information is that 7 of 13 populations of polar bears in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago (more than half the world’s estimated total) are either stable, or increasing …. Of the three that appear to be declining, only one has been shown to be affected by climate change. No one can say with certainty that climate change has not affected these other populations, but it is also true that we have no information to suggest that it has."

Dr. Petr Chylek, adjunct professor, Dept. of Physics and Atmospheric Science, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada: "Mr. Gore suggests that Greenland melt area increased considerably between 1992 and 2005. But 1992 was exceptionally cold in Greenland and the melt area of ice sheet was exceptionally low due to the cooling caused by volcanic dust emitted from Mt. Pinatubo. If, instead of 1992, Gore had chosen for comparison the year 1991, one in which the melt area was 1% higher than in 2005, he would have to conclude that the ice sheet melt area is shrinking and that perhaps a new ice age is just around the corner."

Dr. Gary D. Sharp, Center for Climate/Ocean Resources Study, Salinas, California: "The oceans are now heading into one of their periodic phases of cooling. … Modest changes in temperature are not about to wipe them [coral] out. Neither will increased carbon dioxide, which is a fundamental chemical building block that allows coral reefs to exist at all."

Dr. R. M. Carter, professor, Marine Geophysical Laboratory, James Cook University, Townsville, Australia: "Both the Antarctic and Greenland ice caps are thickening. The temperature at the South Pole has declined by more than 1 degree C since 1950. And the area of sea-ice around the continent has increased over the last 20 years."

Dr./Cdr. M. R. Morgan, FRMS, formerly advisor to the World Meteorological Organization/climatology research scientist at University of Exeter, U.K.: "From data published by the Canadian Ice Service there has been no precipitous drop off in the amount or thickness of the ice cap since 1970 when reliable over-all coverage became available for the Canadian Arctic."

Rob Scagel, M.Sc., forest microclimate specialist, Pacific Phytometric Consultants, Surrey, British Colombia, Canada comments on Gore’’s belief that the Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) is an "invasive exotic species" that has become a plague due to fewer days of frost: "The MPB is a species native to this part of North America and is always present. The MPB epidemic started as comparatively small outbreaks and through forest management inaction got completely out of hand."

Good, fuck off then. You're an idiot anyway.

Besides, if you didn't give a hoot, then why bother posting. Clearly you have mental problems and can't think rationally.

As "why" then that's upto to first to frame a proper question. A "why" by itself is not one.

I'm a shill. It's my job to post. I'm with the denial crowd...

It's a media myth sponsered by government since the Democrats and the Traditional Press are merged at the hip. Government sponsers lots of myths, boondoggles and out-and-out fraud because we let it aquire the power to do so in the name of doin' good, and that's all the Global Warming and Anti-War crowds are trying to do: Good.

And it don't matter if the good is bad as long as you had lofty intentions.

But for you to bag on me over credibility, well, let us just say: It makes for good comedy...

"I don't see any of the alleged "scientific consensus"

The dogma now is allegedly about "man-made gases...what melted the ice back then?

And today's chicken little hysteria is based on unsupported valid evidence, it's about blind faith......a religion.

"We gotta do something!" is the battle cry of the idiots.

Thankfully, not everyone wants to go down that totalitarian road~ :nana:

That sounds dogmatic to me.

Apparently climate change is real.

I agree with you regarding the global warming scare. The supporting data is slowly crumbling as is it is exposed to light. Thank you, Steve McIntyre. The attacks are getting more shrill as it crumbles. His site has been down for a couple of days now.

However, I disagree with you regarding this:

Simple logic;
Impossible to make cellphone calls = faked cellphone calls = the US government LIED.

No Virginia, CELLPHONE calls from passenger jets six miles up and flying at 500mph ARE virtually impossible and steel & concrete buildings don't typically fall straight-down into their own footprint - those were controlled demolitions. The nutty "Arabs Did It" conspiracy nuts really are just shills telling lies.
I know someone one who has made plenty of cell phone calls from a private jet traveling at faster than 500 mph. It's really no big deal as long as there are cell phone towers within reach. The signal hops from cell to cell just as if you where driving. However, just like driving, the transition from one cell to the other doesn't always go perfectly.

Are you quite sure that he's not a government shill, and that you aren't a rent troll?

Quite sure. I've received at least one call from him while he was flying and I've been in the plane with him while he made a call.

So what? That sounds like a personal opinion of yours.

Never said it wasn't. Are you trying to avoid the question of whether or not it's man-made?

Steve McIntyre is one of those careful people who really annoys those who prefer to hype everything.

Is it really a cellphone or satellite phone or airfone. You better check.

I've seen no scientific study showing that it's possible for cellphones to make calls under those conditions, and most experts will say it's impossible - unless you have an onboard cellular basestation (technology which didn't exist before 2004). I suggest you check your "friend", otherwise all you are doing is "story-telling" because you are using a mere personal anecdote instead of citing something real and verifiable with quotes, links, and sources that can be checked.

Airfones don't have a problem because they use the plane's own systems for communication.

Satellite phones don't have a problem because they use satellites for communication. A satellite phone can easily be as small as a cellphone and look very similar to a cellphone; I have both.

It is actually a very big problem for cellphones to make calls from fast-moving aircraft. Especially at speeds over 450mph. By the time the cellphone has made the handshake, and started on the next one to pass along the call to the next "cell", the connection will be cutoff from lack of time. The problem is the time it takes to make the two handshakes; there simply isn't enough time. If cellphones could easily make calls under those conditions without an onboard cellular basestation, there would be no need for companies like Qualcomm to spend millions on R&D to create an onboard cellular basestation for aircraft.

When you were asked to back your BS about 9/11 - you keep avoiding the critical questions....and your allies like Pookie kept dropping the ball.

Then explain Fox News and the US media which bent over backwards to push the Bush Administration's lies about WMDs in Iraq, the Pentagon lies about Jessica Lynch's "rescue", etc....

I am absolutely sure that it was a cell phone and not a satellite phone or an airphone. I'm also absolutely sure that it was before 2000. This cell phone owner and owner of the jet is a close relative and business partner.

We had a conversation in the plane (while flying) about being able to use a cell phone while in a private jet, though you aren't allowed to do it in a commercial jet. It may be more reliable with a cellular basestation, but it's certainly possible without one.

They'll distort the evidence when they get the chance. There's far more money involved in the "man-made" global warming scare-mongering, lots of organisations find it profitable.
