I don't know. Just got home. Haven't checked email. But I doubt anything.

Change the password.........then whoever hacked it will have to hack it again....or give up. Make sure your passwords have numbers and letters......harder to hack......like this: EXAMPLE456 or EX456Ample

I have had that happen. Actually yahoo will give you the run around because they don't want to deal with it. What you can do is email there customer support with what happened and everything you can remember about the account. Everything though , including the password question if you can remember it. If you do this everyday eventually they will help you . Have fun :)

Possible stupid question.

How do you know it's been hacked?

You see, when someone hacks your account they change your password. So it's useless. I put it to bed. I have another now. With a 12 letter/number password. Lets see 'em hack that.

GOTCHA.......didn't realize they had changed the password already.

At least you have it solved and up and running again.

... i agree.... AND use a combo of upper & lowercase. (My Yahoo password is 15 charactors .. upper & lowercase, digits+letters. IE: qNFs301wU4c5MEn .)

Yahoo email requests for help of this sort go unresolved about 99.99% of the time. However, yahoo is very helpful in resolving the issue when contacted by phone. Have your secret question, birthdate and all other identifying info ready when you call them. ;)

"To contact Yahoo!........Email : cc-advoc@yahoo-inc.com .........or call at 408-731-3300 USA ........and .........02078084200 for UK ....... during normal business hours (Like 9am-4pm i think ..Cali time)". :)

Here's another possibly stupid question: why bother?

Since yahoo IM accounts are free, what's the point? Or is it simply for the tiny little ego boost that might come from putting significant effort into acquiring something that could be had for free?

But then I've never quite gotten the point of vandalism either.

SPAM.....the way of the world.

I wondered the same thing. I could easily hack your account and send emails..........but in the very long run.......bottom of the barrel......if there is any tacking/tracing of where it originated from....it will come down to IP address......could be a public library, friends computer, whatever........Like you said....whats the point??

Been a long time since I set mine up...but don't you have to use a "real" email address to "verify" the yahoo one before using?? Don't remember.

Anyways.......just bored and babbling....but yah....what is the point, get a free one, use all your buddies computers so they cant single out one IP address, SPAM the shit outta anyone/anything that has an email address, then feel like the "man" .....and go stroke your small dick......LOL

Okay....off soapbox.....

LMAO

If I understand your question ...why would anyone hack a yahoo email account...I had a male friend's ex-girlfriend 'hack' his...well he was silly and had used her name and forgotten to change it...then pretended she was 'he' and emailed all the women on his list! Called revenge and immaturity.

Any email address will do. Even another free email account such as hotmail, or excite.com etc. As long as you can access that email account to retrieve the verification sent, it would work.

And to answer the question of 'why bother?' ... many who use Yahoo have web sites through the Geocities.com. Many use Yahoo briefcase to store documents, photos etc ect. AND when an account is hacked and taken over by another, the 'friends list' is taken with it. The Friends List is stored on yahoo servers, not the users PC. Many times it is difficult to recall exact spellings of friend's IDs. This is why i back my Friends Lists up in .txt format.
