Yes Boss(Closed)

Ryan listened to Cassie talk about her ex. He sounded like a real creep. He couldn't believe that this guy would need 4 girlfriends when he had Cassie. He knew that If Cassie was his girlfriend she would be all he needed. Soon, Ryan finished his chili that was "Very good... Thank you."

Smiling she finished soon after him. "You are very welcome si.....Ryan." She chuckled softly. It would take time to get used to calling him by his name. Taking his bowl she moved over to the sink, placing the bowls in it before turning back to him. "If you like, we could find something to watch since it's still a little early." She said thinking for a moment. "If you want to do that while I look for the sheets." With a small laughed she began to head towards the door. Fixing her shirt she blushed slightly. As it fell off her shoulder it revealed she wasn't wearing a bra. She only hoped he didn't notice.

"Sure," said Ryan, we can do that. As he stood up he saw Cassie fixing her shirt. He wasn't sure but he thought he saw a bare shoulder. He walked into the living room and turn on the TV and then Netflix. He did a quick search and turned on an episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show." Ryan watched as Chess walked in and laid down on the floor near his feet.

After some rummaging and a few cusses she finally managed to find the sheets. She took her time making up the beds before heading out to the living room. Seeing what was on the tv she smiled. "I haven't seen this in year." Taking a seat on the couch she cuddled up into the corner her eyes glancing over to him. "The beds are made."

Ryan smiled when Cassie sat down. "Yeah... I love this show... It's a lot better than some of the sitcoms on TV now a days... Don't get me wrong some of the new TV is pretty good. Survivor, The Amazing Race, Big Brother... Love 'em..." He looked over at Cassie, "What about you? What do you like to watch?"

She looked over at him curiously before smiling. "I...don't" She said with a chuckle. "I don't want tv, not often anyways. I might catch a movie during the holidays but most of the time I'm busy working. I take a good chunk of work home every night to ensure we stay on task so by the time I finish I go to bed." She cooed honestly.

"Oh," said Ryan. He knew that Cassie worked hard every day to make sure the company ran smoothly. He never realized how much she took home every night. He turned off the TV and said, "Cassie... I just want to say that I really appreciate every thing you do at the office. You are the best assistant a guy could have. But, with that said, I hope you don't spend all of your free time with office work."

She looked at him curiously before chuckling. "I've always done that. I love my job sir. And I have my off day on the weekends. Usually I go hiking or run around town seeing new places." She smiled. "Chess likes it too even if he is lazy." She cooed as the large dog lifted it's head to look at her. "I'm alright. Really." Reaching over him she clicked the tv back on her long curls falling over her shoulders and brushing his chest as she did.

Ryan smiled, "Well that's good... I'm glad of that... I would hate to think you are running yourself ragged because of me... Believe me I'm not worth it... Just ask Annabelle," Ryan took a sip of his beer and sighed. He finished his beer and said, "You want another beer?"

Before he could get up she caught his wrist her eyes sad. "Ryan." She said slowly. "I've worked for you for years. And if anyone deserves happiness... it's you." Her eyes were locked on his as she spoke, her hand keeping him at her side. "Annabelle. She's made a horrid mistake. She threw away a wonderful man, one who would have made her happy. One day... you will make a woman the luckiest woman in the world." She smiled, squeezing his hand gently.

Ryan looked at Cassie and listen to her words. He looked into her eyes. He never notice how pretty they were before. When she was done, she squeezed his hand. He didn't say anything he just kept looking into her eyes for a few seconds, then he leaned forward and kissed her right on the lips.

He was staring into her eyes, her hands trembling slightly. She was nervous, as if she could feel what he was getting ready to do. She could have stopped him, could have pulled away. Maybe it was the beer, maybe it was the jetlag but she didn't pull away. Instead she leaned forward pressing back against him her hand coming to rest in his knee. After a short kiss she pulled back, her cheeks crimson. Staring back up into his eyes she was unsure of what to do. Her mind was reeling. Swallowing she gave his knee a gentle squeeze. "I... Think that's enough beer for tonight." Her voice was barely a whisper. Standing slowly she took their empty bottles her eyes glancing down as she moved to the kitchen with them. A rebound. That's what he wanted. Slipping a piece of hair behind her ear she shook her head. She wouldn't be a rebound to anyone. This was wrong. But if it was wrong why was her heart pounding in her chest.

Ryan sliently cursed himself when he watched Cassie leave the room. He had to think about what he wanted. He mad up his mind and went in the kitchen. He walked in and said, "Cassandra... I just want you to know that I think you are a great person. And, I hope I didn't cross a line in there, but you need to know that I've found you attractive for quite a while. I would hope that you would like to give us a try... if not then I think we can just move on and forget that happened. What do you say?"

Hearing her name she turned slowly her eyes sad. Leaning against the counter she stared down at her feet listening. Rubbing her arm she was silent, her mind still spinning. His words fell heavy on her ears and for a moment she wondered what life would be like. How things would change if she was on his arm. Finally looking up at him she spoke timidly, her voice a whisper. "I... Don't want to be some rebound... Some attempt to fill the void left by her." She forced herself to look at him. "I... Like you sir. I have for a while. You are handsome... Kind..." looking away she felt her curls hide her face. "This...you don't want this. You're... You're hurting. And you are alone after everything that happened today. Taking a deep breath she moved towards him. " I.. Don't think I'm what you want I think you just like the idea of me. " Leaning up she kissed his cheek giving his arm a soft squeeze. "It's late sir... I'm going to head to bed. Come on chess." She called to the dog before heading towards the door. "Good night..." She gave him a sad smile her eyes hiding the tears that burned her throat.

Ryan listened to what Cassie said and watched as she walked to the door, "Cassie," he said, as he walked up to her, "I just want you to know that I would never use you as a rebound. If we were together it would be for the long haul. Not, just until I find the next pretty face. I respect you to much for that." This time he gave her a peck on the cheek, "Good Night." Then he headed to his room

A small smile tipped her lips as she watched him go. "Goodnight." She called before making her way towards her room. Her mind was still spinning from the days events and to end with a kiss? Sighing she crawled into bed before cuddling into the warm sheets. Tomorrow she would deal with her thought but as for tonight. Tonight she would sleep.

----

It was four thirty a.m and she was silently stepping back into the house. She had just finished her morning run, her skin cold to the touch and her hair pulled back into a messy pony tail at the back of her head. She chided herself for not having packed her warmer running pants and top in her overnight bag. Rubbing her exposed stomach and arms to warm herself she moved towards the living room. After a few minutes of rummaging she found her yoga mat and placed it down. She rubbed Chess' ears before beginning her morning yoga routine. Downward dog, hummingbird, down to eight crooked limbs, down to cobra, up to fore arm sta- she almost had her legs up into her forearm stand when she found herself rolling to the floor, fur engulfing her. "Chess!" She hissed angrily. "Get! Get off! "She coughed as she tried to get the mutt out of the way.

Ryan woke up just before Cassie got back from her run. He did some stretches and followed by some sit ups and push ups. When he was done with his workout, walked out of the bedroom, when he heard Cassie call out, Chess! Get! Get off!" He walked in the room and helped Cassie get the dog off of of her. "Come on Chess!" said Ryan.

Once Chess was off of her he looked down at her and smiled, "Good Morning..." he helped Cassie to her feet. "Did you sleep well?" He hoped that the events of the previous night hadn't ruined their working relationship or their friendship.

Hearing his voice she looked up at him with a small smile. "Good morning." Taking his hand she stood slowly, instantly awake of how little she was wearing and how exposed she was in her crop top and tight running shorts. Blushing she nodded rubbing her arm. "Yes I did. How did you sleep? Thanks for getting Chess. He... Always bothers me when I do yoga." With a shy laugh she took a deep breath.

"what would you like for breakfast? " Moving towards the kitchen she couldn't help but chuckle to herself. Yesterday has been a very odd day. She only hoped today would be better. Her mind wandered to the kiss and her cheeks flushed again.

Ryan smiled, "I slept very well thank you..." Ryan was wearing just a t-shirt and shorts. He followed her into the kitchen and said, "Oh no you don't... You made dinner last night... Insist on making breakfast... After what happened last night it's the least I can do... How does pancakes and bacon sound?"

With a smile she turned to him. "That sounds wonderful." Looking up at him she paused before lightly touching his arm. "I... Wanted to talk to you about last night actually." Biting her lip she hopped up on the counter giving him room to cook. "I think.... You should give yourself a chance to heal. To just.... Recover. If by the end of this week you still feel the way you did last night... We'll cross that bridge then?" She asked before leaning forward slightly. "I'm not going anywhere." She gave him a small timid smile.

Ryan listen to what Cassie had to say about healing. She did have a good point. After all, he and Annabelle just broke up. He gave her a smiled, "Yeah... You're right... Okay... we'll see where I'm at at the end of the week."

The problem was that Ryan couldn't wait till the end of the week. He knew how he felt and he knew he wasn't going to change his mind. A couple of days later, he told Cassie that he had to leave work early, so he could go check on the work on his house. In reality, he wanted to surprise Cassie with dinner. He went to the store and did some shopping, then he headed back to Cassie's house and started cooking hoping to have it ready by the time she got home.

She nodded softly before they headed of to work. Only a few days passed, many of them filled with laughter when they were away from work. When he left early she took her time, finishing up a large amount of paperwork before finally making her way home.

Stepping into the house she glanced around, realizing that Chess hadn't greeted her. She could smell food cooking and called softly through the house. "Hello?" She called once her shoes were off.

Chess was currently in Ryan's room. Dinner was just about ready when he hear Cassie call out, "Hello?" He walked out of the kitchen and smiled. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans, "Hi... You're home just in time... Dinner is all most ready. If you wanted to shower and change before we eat, you have time." Ryan went back in the kitchen to put the finishing touches on dinner.

Blinking for a moment she smiled slightly. "Alright... thank you." She said quietly before taking her hair down from the tight bun. "I'll be just a moment." She smiled before moving towards her bedroom.

A short time later she stepped out of the bedroom wearing a pair of jean shorts, an a loose tee shirt. Taking a deep breath she moved into the kitchen with a smile. " It smells good." She cooed leaning against the door frame.

Ryan was putting the food on the table. They were having grilled chicken breasts, oven roasted potatoes and a salad. He looked up when he saw Cassie standing in the door frame. He smiled. He walked over to her and said, "I hope you like it." He took her hand and guided her over to the table. He pulled out his chair for her and then opened the bottle of wine he had chilling. He poured them each a glass and he said, "A toast... To New beginnings..."
