Yikes, or are you missing something?

Agreed. I think that would be an excellent time to fall back, form a perimeter and call for an air strike . . . preferbly from a B-1!

A news report I heard today had the Sherrifs Department Bomb Squad identifying both of the devices as explosive devices and packaging them for transport and disposal by the Air Force.

It would be interesting to find out just where these came from and why they were dumped on the banks of a canal.

My instant and rather unpleasant thought was "They didn't need 'em anymore."

Urgh. :(

Maybe an angry lover said, "them or me" and the owner didn't know how to dispose of them properly/legally?

But I am unable to understand why a private individual EVER needs to own military-grade equipment that is designed to blow up large things at a great distance.

LAWs would work as well as as a predecessor, the 105MM Recoilless (anti-tank) Rifle, for avalanche abatement.

Private ownership of a handgun or a rifle makes sense, since it works for Switzerland. Private ownership of a grenade or missile launcher, however, contributes to lawlessness. I agree with those who think that this should be banned.

Are the common-sense-sucking rays from a LAW that much stronger than they are for rifles handguns that simple possession causes lawlessness?

I believe that LAWs are illegel and there are no hills in Fla to need Avalance control.

Surprised thou that they showed up on a canal bank?

Probably not illegal per se, but restricted and controlled by the same laws on storing and using explosives that prevent people/corporations from stockpiling dynamite and ammonium nitrate in populated areas.

As for avalanche control, that was in reference to someone owning LAWs in Washington where there are elevation changes greater than fifty feet.

Has Forida ever outlawed fishing with explosives? It used to be legal to fish with "M-80s" and "Cherry Bombs" and only illegal to fish with dynamite or hand grenades because they fall under high-explosives transport and storage regulations.
