I win.
Ohhh I completely forgot about this! Great choice!Day 11: A song for a cookout/barbecu
Classic Kiwi song, from one of their movies about a sheepdog goes down well at mid afternoon beers and bbq, like today.
Dave Dobbyn - Slice of heaven
I utterly love this song. "I could talk a mile a minute" is totally my groove ...Day 11: A song for a cookout/barbecue
The whole Cosmic Thing album fits this, but let's have this track Deadbeat Club - B-52's - "We'll dance in the garden in torn sheets in the rain" just seemed to fit

"Barbecue" and "cookout" have different vibes, and require different music. Barbecue is low and slow. You started in the dark. Brisket, ribs, even a nice butt, well slapped. I love a good slapped butt. Mostly it is just you, until the guests arrive, theoretically sitting there drinking beer because you need to "watch the temp," or "keep and eye on the smoke." Blues, for me. Always blues. Low down and dirty, or cranked up and rocking. Muddy Waters, Etta, BB, John Lee Hooker for the cook, or maybe someone local. ZZ Top when the guests arrive. Crank it.
A cookout covers more. Burgers, dogs, steaks. Or something faster, like tri-tip in a PBC (heaven), or a nice jerked chicken or pork. Grilling, for the most part. Fast. More social. Here is my last jerked pork (sub my OnlyPans!). For grilling, I tend to go with music with energy, like ska, classic rock, punk, or pop punk. I love me some pop punk. And with that in mind, this feels appropriate...
"Light 'Em Up," Fall Out Boy
I have an interstate move in 5 weeks. Everything must go. Who’s ready for barbecue?
