Day 28: A song that mentions waiting

Late 90s (maybe '99?), and Texas had a hit with one of the hottest music videos I'd seen.
Sharleens voice. Her face. Her everything. Gods, she's gorgeous.

Few years later, and Rammstein releases the Rosenrot album. I'd been obsessed since Sehnsucht (The name of the Album! Not spank-worthy @morelikeasong!) but this was a pivot into an entirely new direction. From the Neue Deutche Härte (New German Hardness) sound of their first couple of albums, this was much softer, much more musical, melodical.

Imagine my surprise when this band, whom I originally didn't understand a word of, included an English speaking guest singer (because lord knows Till's English sucks!). And it's Sharleen. Splooosh!! I've no idea how they found each other, but they made something beautiful together.

Rammstein ft. Sharleen Spiteri - Stirbt Nicht vor Mir (Don't die before I do)
(Ich warte hier = I'm waiting here/I'll wait here)

Rosenrot and Reise, Reise are probably my two favorite albums, and up until Deutschland, had my favorite videos. They were out around 2005, iirc, as Mutter was out in 2001 following up Sehnsucht and caused a lot of tension within the band so they went on hiatus after the tour. This was the inspiration for the song Keine Lust.

Day 28: A song that mentions waiting
I am not a Journey fan. Bring on the boos and angry responses. I am of an age when they were huge, and incredibly popular (and all wonderful, nice guys-- I was a hired gun for spotlight on their "Raised on Radio" tour stop in our town, and met everyone but Steve Perry, who was resting his voice). But musically, they bore me. Four chord, safe, corporate rock. Big hits, but no heart for me.

So it surprised the hell out of me when I first listened to Neal Schon's first solo album, Late Nite. This was a time when there were a lot of solo guitar albums, some great, some not so great. But this one had some songs that really sang to me (not so much when Neal sings, heh). He can be an intensely evocative guitar player, rock, but with a lot of jazz and blues notes. I have several tracks from this album and his next, Beyond the Thunder, where he took a lot of chances he never did with Journey, on my playlists. I absolutely love this track. The only lyrics are "I'll be waiting." His guitar playing is both wistful and hopeful in turns. I feel it completely.

"I'll Be Waiting," Neal Schon.

Day 28 - songs about waiting

This was the sound of heart break in my high school years. I am a huge fan of this whole album, but this song in particular is just good. Really damn good. Rob Hyman, one of the leads of The Hooters, another band I love, was a cowriter for this one, and he came up with "a suitcase full of memories." Cyndi loved that image, and they built the rest of the song around it. Also, it is named after the film with Malcolm McDowell as HG Wells. It was just a fake title until they came up with a better one, but it became so fundamental they kept it.

These have been your pointless "Time After Time" facts for the day...

Day 28: A song that mentions waiting

Today’s prompt was inspired by @Whiskeyjack ’s waiting for a prompt. As soon as I posted it, this song popped into my head—the original by the smooth voiced Josh Turner. When I looked it up on Spotify to listen, I found this cover. Anna is an adorable Swedish woman with this beautiful voice. Had to share this version.
