🎵 Monthly Song Challenge 🎵

Sorry I'm new and didn't know one song a day. I was trying to catch up!!!!
That’s why I didn’t spank you yet 😜

You can totally catch up! I mean one song per prompt. It wasn’t clear to me if you were posting songs for the prompts or just posting songs that they reminded you of.

Feel free to start with day 1 for July. If you want to catch up with all three today that’s fine, as long as there’s just one per prompt! 💛

Day 3: A song you like from a genre you don’t normally listen to

I'm not sure there's any genre left for me to pick besides country. I guess I could've gone with the adjacent bluegrass, but that would be an even harder mental search. Either way, those are genres that I never purposely seek out. I'll be putting on hip hop when I'm caught up with the thread 😂 I found a few songs from this artist on a playlist I shuffle regularly. I really love the album cover and the lyrics for this song are great.

Thank you. Spanking sounds fun!! Any songs with that in the title?? :))

: A song you like from a genre you don’t normally listen to
This past January I got to go to the opera in Vienna, was never at an opera before. Malin Bystrom was the lead and i was mesmerised. This is from Solome and it's very erotic and moving
I love classical music, and I love theater, and so I feel I should love opera, that I want to love opera, but I just can't. My ex's cousin is a touring opera singer, and what he can do with his voice is just amazing --the power and the control. I respect the hell out of the technique and the tradition. But I cannot find any that calls to me.

Not a huge rap fan, but trip hop I kind of get into. I'm not sure that Travis Scott clasifies himself as that, but this song gives me trip hop vibes.

I used to joke that I'm allergic to Christian and country music. I must admit, there are some good songs in every genre and it took falling in love with a musically inclined cowboy to help me reconsider an opinion I didn't form for myself.

I still don't listen to country. Of course, there is the Dolly Parton clause. I do love this song though. And this video is just as amazing 😍

Day 4: Your favorite patriotic song

I've spoken at length before, about how I emigrated to Sweden as a child. For all it's flaws and imperfections, I have never felt unwelcome here. I have been allowed since day one to take part in all of the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's been one hell of a ride.

Patriotism is seen as something ugly here. It isn't "nice" to be proud of your land. We criticize, constantly, and rightfully. For Sweden is not perfect. But it's home. And it's beautiful.

Kent - Sverige (Sweden).

Sweden, Sweden, beloved friend
a Tiger in shame
I know how it feels
when seriousness has turned to a joke

Welcome, be welcome here
Whoever you are
Where ever you're from

(A Swedish Tiger is a wordplay slogan from WW2. Tiger means both "to be silent" and, well, the animal. A blue and yellow striped tiger was the mascot for the campaign to not sell our secrets to the Germans. A Tiger in shame is a heavy criticism against the current state of Sweden)
