Day 16: A song that you recently added to a playlist
I rarely create playlists. Usually I just have Alexa or Google play whatever I'm in the mood to listen to. Here's a song I recently listened to. I took my daughter to see Melanie Martinez last month and this artist opened up for her. Very talented and such a cool vibe.

Day 16 - A song you recently added to a playlist

I've been told my playlist setup is quite odd. When I like a band, I take all their albums, singles, live plays, and dump them in a playlist named Bandname. That way I have everything they've done in one place, and I can binge-listen! None of my playlists contain stuff from multiple different bands - when I want to listen to a band I want to listen to only that band.

Does anyone else do this?
I will do band specific playlists as well, or filters offline lists. I will also do by genre, which can get so granular, by mood, or by action ("boxing" for workouts, or "writing - (fill in the need)" when going that way).

And I am old, so I have a couple of USB drives with music that I use in my car. Some by theme, but one with three thousand or so songs that I just either filter or let play.

Day 16: A song that you recently added to a playlist

I was running a rabbit trail of post-punk-pop and found this acoustic version, and I like it far better than the original. I always was a fan of Taking Back Sunday, I have been enjoying The Maine for about a year, and I hadn't heard of Charlotte Sands before, so it was a nice trifecta, with the addition of a new artist to look into. I love the interplay, and the complexity of the differing lyrical lines, which comes off much better to me played acoustically.

So yeah, added!

Latest on the playlist is

Nico - Fairest of the Seasons

My workmate is Ukrainian. On the radio today they played that Nico song and I turned it up. She listened and asked if it was ABBA. I get reference point was the accent and the orchestration.

So I asked if she knew about The Velvet Underground or Lou Reed, John Cale or even Jackson Browne.

"Well you know about Andy Warhol?"

That also drew a blank.

So I asked if she knew of a modern Russian film called Summer (I think) where people start singing Perfect Day on a bus in St. Petersburg. She had seen the scene but not the film.

It's been fun working with her because her cultural reference points are so weird and she is lovely. Her seasonal work ends soon, so I'm making her a playlist of songs she has liked but never heard before and burning them to CD. Nico's the latest to go on the list. I'll make the CD cover by using Warhol pop art.

“I like order, I like answers
Wrapped in ribbon and twine
I grab hold of unknown outcomes
'Til my knuckles are white
I am trying to be kinder
To this body of mine
'Cause it keeps me alive
Like it's supposed to

I rush the future, I cling to the past
I'm terrified the present will not last
I see the irony, I get the fact
It's already gone
By the time that the thought
Has passed
I am working on it
Give me some grace
I like empty pages
I like Mondays”

Taylor Bickett - I Like Mondays
