Day 2: A song that has many meanings

A great song that has been interpreted two ways: It's about struggling to create music all night and the musician / narrator of the song is wondering if he should continue at such a late hour, or it's a song about doing more drugs... As a struggling artist, I have always leaned towards the former explanation because the wondering of what to do now (25 or 6 to 4 refers to the time) -- that alone became the impetus for such a classic song and it ultimately became a great work of art. ...And I love that.

I remember the conversations on the deep meaning of the title. For years. Then I heard Robert Lamm explain it: he was writing it and looked up to see it was "25 or 26 minutes until 4 AM." The banality was brilliant.

Day 2 - a song with many meanings
Paul McCartney's song "Blackbird" by The Beatles is a political commentary about the civil rights movement in the United States in the 1960s. McCartney's inspiration for the song came from reading about riots in the southern United States and the civil rights movement

Day 2: A song that has multiple meanings

You know how you listen to a song in your 20's and you get one meaning from it, then you listen again in your 40's and get a completely different take?

That's all I'm going to write because I haven't started drinking yet and it's Labor Day... I don't want to think too much. But yes... I hadn't listened to FF for about 20 years and just decided to start again and my brain is like... wtf?

Dark Of The Matinée - Franz Ferdinand

Day 3: A song that is an album title track

Marc Bolan... I often wonder where rock and glam would be at today, had he not died way too young. One of those brilliant once-in-a-generation musicians, he birthed an entire genre on his own. He was very close with David Bowie, who was his funeral singer, and I firmly believe Ziggy would have sounded a lot different if the two hadn't pushed each other to greatness.

I hope you're being your most fabulous self, where ever you are, you beautiful beautiful man 💕

Marc Bolan's T.Rex - Dandy in the Underworld
Title track of his last ever album back in '77.

Day 2: A song that has many meanings

Most punk rock and hardcore songs are pretty straightforward so there’s not much room for interpretation.

So I immediately thought of Guided by Voices. I have no fucking idea what any of their songs mean. They tend to all sound good, have catchy hooks but they lyrics are 100% meaningless or meaningful. I’m really not sure.

This is one of my favorite songs by them. I wish I could tell you what this song means or is about.

Your Name is Wild

Day 2: A song that has many meanings

One of my favorite albums growing up... was Ram. I love every song on that album.

Imagine my sadness when, as an adult, I saw something alluding to the actual hidden meaning of these songs I love. I was a bit crushed... but can so plainly see it now, as an adult. And while I still love the song... now? It kind of makes me sad.

Paul and Linda McCartney - 3 Legs

Ooh a great choice 😍 I don't really know much T. Rex music but now I'm inspired to listen to more. I fell in love with that song relatively recently in The Pursuit of Love. Andrew Scott dancing in a silk robe is one of the most wonderful scenes in a period show imo.

I very much recommend watching Billy Elliot if you've never seen it! A coming of age drama set in the 80s working class britain. It's a beautiful story of rebellion and about finding yourself, set to a soundtrack primarily of T.Rex songs 🥰 It's how I first fell in love!

Hot Priest will always be a treat to watch
