Day 5: A cover song that’s better than the original

Weezer - Africa (starring Weird Al Yankovic)

so the story behind the song is what makes it so good...a 14 year old fan pressed on social media for months for Weezer to cover Africa by Toto...in response (as a joke) they covered Rosanna by Toto...a few months later they gave in to mounting pressure and covered the song at the fans request...

Day 5: A Cover Song That is Better Than the Original Part II: This time it's Seether.

Only day five, and I am cashing in my bonus song. I am not a George Michael guy. Never have been. The only song I could stand by him was "Careless Whisper." Also, I am not a Seether guy. Never have been. The only song I could stand by them was a cover of "Careless Whisper."

Honestly, Shaun Morgan does an amazing job on the vocals here, just pouring his heart into this. What he puts into "please stay!" is heartbreaking. And no overdone sexy sax! I bet Andrew Ridgeley probably liked it too.

"Careless Whisper," Seether (George Micheal (though Andrew Ridgeley co-wrote it, and it was also on a Wham! album) cover)

Day 5: A Cover Song That is Better Than the Original

A little while ago @summer_reine was trying to find a cover of a NIN song, and I was determined to find it... I failed, but found this gem.

I love Trent Reznor's voice and the way he sings the original, but I'm a sucker for a slowed down version of a song by the opposite gender from the original. Also that orchestra... 🀯

There is a comment for this video that really explains why this is so good: "...this is a reimagining of the orginal..." It does take it to a whole other level.
