🔮 What are you doing right now? 🔮

Watching a documentary miniseries on Lady Jane Grey, whose reign as Queen of England lasted from July 10th (471 years ago today!) through July 19th, 1553.

EDIT: If the S&S thread is any indication, some Litsters here really hate math, but yes, her reign only lasted 9 days.

It's really good isn't it!
I didn’t say which documentary, specifically, I was watching! 🤣 She’s one of the most fascinating Tudor-era figures, IMO, but this docu-series (England’s Forgotten Queen: The Life and Death of Lady Jane Gray) is…okay. The first episode was very dismissive of Elizabeth, who also had a decent claim, was popular among Protestants, not to mention smart, charismatic, knew how to play The Game and was a survivor. Also their focus is mostly on lineage and not what a big factor the religious divide was. Buuut, they did unearth a couple documents even I was unfamiliar with, so points for that!

My mistake :).I thought you meant the Amazon series "My Lady Jane"

Ahhh…I did say documentary miniseries. I did watch My Lady Jane few days ago though! Interesting how they changed the religious divide to the magical realism of shapeshifters, and made Seymour and Mary allies.
It was entertaining and very well-narrated and presented as a fairy tale, but definitely not historically accurate by any stretch 🤣

Looking through my work emails. The absolute chaos of June ended with a whimper and it just feels too quiet and too calm right now😕
