Pizza, leftover shepherd’s pie and some sourdough cheddar jalapeño bread made into a grilled cheese.
I was late getting home

Made spicy pan grilled ground pork, seasoned with salt, garlic powder, italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, and all added to a couple of jars of pasta sauce, all of that atop a bed of rotini pasta with some vegetable oil and salt to make the noodles a little less sticky and give them a little flavor when they don't have the sauce on them.

I also sometimes pour the sauce on top of the pasta in the drained pot, put a lid on, and shake it so every noodle is completely covered and the sauce is evenly distributed, but I'm eating alone so I'm being less fancy.

That, and playing Balatro by myself while eating.

It's not what I want to be doing but I'd need a partner for what I'd want to be doing.

Freshly baked dinner rolls, crunchy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside, with soft butter to spread as she pleases. Or garlic bread, but the pasta in question already has garlic, and that can be overpowering, so, I'd opt to either have garlic bread or garlic in the sauce, not both.

One of the candles will be scented, something like lavender or lilac, nothing too strong, to take away from the smell and taste of the meal, preferably further away from the dinner table to make that room smell a certain way.

Obviously, garlic is a kiss inhibitor, so I'd brush my teeth and offer after dinner mints or gum to my partner. I do love garlic though, surely garlic and romance can mix.

Candles still burning, after dinner, more wine or a soft drink of her choice, and some soft music playing, lights still down low, and some sitting on the sofa together, talking and enjoying life.

Fancier silverware and plates than usual, sure. Small touches but important. I'd even have napkins.

No. (I know you're joking but still) I have been eating and cooking alone for a while, and I have always worked in kitchens, so I know how to cook, so I at least make myself a tasty meal.

Please do not feel as though I am trying to show off, just answer the questions as asked. I feel if I have a guest I should make the experience more interesting and memorable for her, at least.

YES!! This is what I tell everyone. Don't "wait" to use your nice things; any day that you are able to get up in the morning is a good day to do something.
