Yup, just saw it again the other night. Made on a shoestring budget, it was IMO head and shoulders above its competitors in quality. Of course, like all franchises it ultimately became gore porn with almost no relation to the original premise.

I never saw that either… but I don’t remember hearing about friends having nightmares from seeing Alien… but The Shinning … that movie causes nightmates for sure. (I have seen that … time to watch it again).

Alien will have you never going into a dark basement or tunnel ever again. The Shinning was the Simpsons parody of the Shining, which never really impressed me but maybe I should give it another chance.

Reverse for me......Thought Alien was pretty creepy when it came out.....Shining is more psychological to me, that's what got me, the madness and results, not scary per se.
