My longest continuous watch on a boat was 42 hours... crew change days are commonly in the neighborhood of 30 hours...
Pops used to tell me "That's the kind of shit that makes young men old and old men scarce."

You're correct, there are... I'm supposedly required to have 10 of every 24 hours available for rest...
The crew change aspect is on me though, as I live 12-14 hours from where my boat usually is.

The thing is (and I learned this, early on) I'm in the "service industry" just as when I was a kid, working at a mom and pops drive in restaurant...
If the oil companies aren't happy with my service, they'll get their "cheeseburger" from somewhere else.
