2024 Nude Day Contest support thread

Looks like I'm going somewhere with mine. 4k words in and clothes are about to fall off!

And yes, it's gonna revolve around an actual-but-fictitious Nude Day, complete with a flimsy and ridiculous and borderline satirical justification for its observance.
Oh, and it's also an I/T story, because it's been a hot minute since I wrote one and I decided to take it easy for this event ;)

I hereby support you. There, that's my good deed for the day.

I'm really flailing around this time. It's hard to follow-up on this theme within the series without repetition from last year's E&V story, even with more characters to work with.

Likely to miss the deadline. šŸ˜ž

Do I understand correctly that we can enter stories today, in advance if the official contest start date of June 14? Iā€™m a relatively new author, and this is my first contest. I do not want to mess this up. My story is done, ready for submission. As long as I properly label is for the contest, can I submit it now?

This isn't particularly obvious from the rules but my reading of them is that the stories are posted immediately as they come, but no sooner than June 14. You can submit them before, but they won't go up until then.

I believe that is correct. Or at least, that's how it has been working on past contests.

Hey Wine and Cheese! Yes, you can, I believe, submit now as long as it clearly states "Nude Day 2024" in the Notes to Admin field.
Here is the official notification from Laurel posted yesterday:

Welcome aboard and good luck, have fun and I look forward to reading your story!

This is the only contest I've entered, I think. It can be fun, but only if inspiration hits at a suitable time.

I've been so busy irl that I've not done much writing, although ironically my last published and its nearly complete sequel are firmly in E&V.

Mine's done. I was more enthusiastic about it before I wrote it than after, but that's par for the course with me these days.

Just did my read-through. At 13k words it's a pretty compact story for me, and it's a little better than I remembered! Hopefully it'll find readers.

Keep it up, peeps! This is a wonderful contest. You almost can't go wrong.

Congrats. I look forward to reading it!

I'm a couple edit passes away from submittal. (I do my own editing.) I expect to have it available for posting when the contest debuts.

Question: does the story have to be linked in some way to Nude Day to qualify or can it be just a E&V story? Just wondering because I saw a comment from LitFan10 above linking her past submissions (Holly and No Words Needed) stories) to that event.

According to the officials Nude Day is not a requirement - the theme of nudity, especially public, and exhibitionism/voyuerism is the requirement.

Holly and No Words Needed were a product of me getting such a kick out of the idea that there is a real Nude Day. I kind of required that on my part.

I hope you enter and have fun!

I've done a bunch of these, and my stories have always done well. One of them has mentioned National Nude Day, though somewhat dismissively; this year's entry will too. The rest have not addressed it even slightly.

The idea is that the main theme of the story needs to center around nudity. As long as that happens, you'll fit into this contest. Only once that I can recall have I ever seen a reader comment faulting me for not including National Nude Day, lol.

Will try to - I have one written that seems to fit but while it is complete in itself, the way it ends seems to call for a sequel and I'm afraid it gets rejected because it is considered as a part in a series.
I'm working on another one - hoping inspiration keeps flowing to complete it in time for submission.

I believe you can just submit it as a stand-alone story and you're fine. Then, if at some point later, it ends up being in a series, that's fine, too. I believe that it just can't be submitted for the contest and have it listed in a series for the contest duration... I think...

Thank you for your advice. I will have a look at it again and will probably use it as a first post. Let's hope readers like it.

I'll do my best to keep on top of this thread, but I do have my annoying health issues and just tested positive for Covid. Yeah, happy happy, joy, joy.
My doctor wasn't too concerned so I'll take that.
Happy writing everyone.
