A few of my favorite things....

I've recently obtained a comfy pair of boxers and a t-shirt that I'm quickly becoming rather fond of.
Speaking of clothing, I have taken a liking to my Guinness Draught flip-flops. Yes, they were only $4.95 at Walmart, and yes they make all kinds of sound when I walk. But man, are they comfortable. And they are easy to get on and get off.

My kind of footwear.

Hugs!!
Hugs from my kids friends even virtual hugs!!! especially when someone gives me one when I need it without knowing that I do.

Friends that i can talk openly to, bourbon, WWE these are a few of my favourite things

Friends, Talking, Writing, Reading, More Talking, Scrap booking. Just a few lol

OMG I forgot Music. I cannot go a day without listening to MUSIC :p

..... the rest of the story (Another Empty Nester)

It's that time of the year. Outside my window, mother robin is constructing a nest. She's flying to and fro collecting materials. Her careful and laborious construction is fun to watch. Shortly, she'll be spending long hours sitting in her nest. I've always loved the turquoise blue of robin's eggs. In the blink of an eye, she'll be feeding little ones. Just think- I've got a ringside seat for the whole show!

Well, mom laid three eggs and I've watched as she incubated them. They hatched about three weeks ago and mom has spent all of her time ever since working like a dog to feed the hatchlings- incessantly flying all over creation coming up with enough worms and insects to satisfy their insatiable, ravenous appetites. Whe she arrived at the nest bearing the fruit of her labors, the three made a hellacious racket, reminding me of the screeching of advertising or marketing people: "PICK ME! CHOOSE ME! ME! ME! ME!"

I am pleased to announce that on Independence Day (is that appropriate or what?), the little noisemaking avian alimentary canals were all fledged and mom didn't waste a moment throwing 'em out of the house. One malingerer insisted on flopping around on the ground after a not entirely successful landing following a wobbly first flight. Mom hung around to fly reconnaisance and lend assistance. As of this morning, the nest sits empty and abandoned.

Dare I mention that I've enjoyed a "bird's-eye view" of the whole process or is that likely to elicit groaning?

"Avian" only sounds plausible when Trysails says it.

Me too.

My grandmother had some birds that decided to cuddle into the wreath on her front door last year. Golly, she got spittin' mad!
All she would do was walk between the door (glass door) and the livingroom and grumble, "Those goddamn birds, won't shut up, making a mess, shitting everywhere. I'll never be able to use those flowers again!"

I don't think she was wowed by the marvels of birdy birth and loving regurgitation...

Relax me

A hug from my neice after a stressful day at work.

Coming home to an empty house when I have a migraine. I just take a cold shower, put on my sleeping mask, climb into bed naked and sleep it away.

Starting my day with music.

Sunshowers Got Me by the Hour

Sunshowers during summer remind me of the spontaneous rainshowers I enjoyed in the U.S. Virgin Islands in the summer of 18th year.

Seeing a rainbow after a rain seems so rare these days, but when it happens, I feel like a happy child again.

Aside from the nature stuff, I would say receiving a phone call or e-mail from a friend I haven't heard from in a while lights up my day.

The Music of Horace Silver

I'm a jazz fan. I got into jazz via Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk. But recently I've discover Horace Silver.

Cats, you owe it to yourself to lend an ear. Try "Prelude to a Kiss" or "I Remember You."

Some sap, all truth

I have some of the most excellent friends ever. Both on and offline.
You know who you are. :rose:

Also, I love the feeling on Friday nights just before I'm about to get into bed, knowing I don't have to set the alarm, and I can just sleep however, whenever.
Fan-fucking-tastic.
Now America just has to ban five-day work weeks and we're getting somewhere.

Summertime !!!!

It's high summer. The cicadas and crickets are whirring and chirping all day and night. The windows are flung wide open and I luxuriate in the green canopy that surrounds me.

The occasional thundersquall passes by accompanied by the deep, basso profundo booms of rolling thunderclaps and the sound of rain falling on the leaves. Afterwords, there's the delicious smell that only comes from rain falling on hot asphalt. Am I alone in relishing this smell? Do you know it?

Ah, summertime! Ain't it the best? It passes far too quickly. Unlike winter, which feels as if it drags on endlessly, the unhurried, languid days of summer rush by.

That Friday-night feeling is great. I love sleeping in on Saturdays, then waking up well-rested, which inevitably leaves me feeling...oh wait, this thread isn't about that. ;)

(I'll admit this is weird.)

I enjoy pulling the icemaker bin from the freezer and dumping the frozen chunks of ice into the kitchen sink, then running hot water across the cubes while listening to the ice popping and cracking. I also like burrowing holes through the pile with the warm water stream.

I'm like a kid when it comes to ice and fire.

Well I suppose that latter, erm, activity would fall under a Favorite Thing heading for most people.
So technically you're within your rights.

If I had an icemaker bin I would probably enjoy doing that as well.
It's very pretty and poetic while also being sort of odd.

One of my favorite things is being home at a time when I'm usually at work.
I get excited and swish my hands all around for a few minutes. Make some yipping noises.

I just realized that's kind of embarrassing to admit.

I just like the idea of you swishing and yipping. It makes me smile.

Does anybody else think Ekserb's Perez Hilton-esque av makes him look like a cross between Snidely Whiplash and Santa?

And Snidely Whiplash is probably my most favorite cartoon character name ever, so this is thread appropriate.

But the original post states that sexually-related things are out. Must stay within the rules, you know.

I've no doubt this is an adorable sight.

I work from home occasionally, and I like it a lot. Especially if I go out in the neighborhood to grab lunch--it feels like a weekend, walking around in shorts (OK, 6 months out of the year).

It makes me smile, too!

<conversely envisioning Ekserb swishing and yipping>
Hmm.

Actually, speaking of this very thing...I've been meaning to comment (other than laughing my ass off about how funny it is).
I think he looks rather dashing like that (no, seriously not kidding. Well, maybe the teensiest bit. But most of me is not kidding).
Perhaps he should make it a full-time change?

Fine then, we are not allowed to talk of such things.
They do not exist.

:) Pesky February.

I really enjoy the game Bananagrams. I just bought it today and am having fits of joy that it is mine, mine, MINE!
