In my early 20's I got busted selling contraband band logo merchandise in the parking lot of a J. Geils concert. My friend and I had to give our earnings to the band, or so security said. They probably divide it among themselves. Not my best idea. They did let us see the concert, though.

That made me think of how some of the older songs were written with audience participation in mind, but not the later rock music. I guess the audiences were smaller early on, whereas rock concert audiences were much larger. I like the intimacy of smaller venues myself.
