This is the point! I wrote that particular story very quickly and with the eye toward what I've noticed readers responding to. It absolutely (for me) went through the roof (over 45,000 views, well over 200 votes, 8 comments). I usually write chapter stuff and in fact started this thread because I didn't feel I was being read (I have only one other story with more than 10,000 views). The response to this story (Thy Neighbor's Daughter) was an eyeopener. It's not a bad story (in fact I think it made me a better writer) but compared to other stuff I have on this site it's nothing much. I have a far better one that has dropped below 4.5 and an even better one that can seem to get above 10 votes to show.
Please, I'm not about these numbers but with no feedback what can you tell?
