Aft Nacelle (discussion all things sci-fi)

I never really got into Stargate despite liking the film. Not sure why.

Never really watched the newer Battlestar Galactica but loved the original series as well as Buck Rogers.

I quite enjoyed the new Lost In Space, though not sure if it's getting a new season.

Never been a huge Dr Who fan but Tom Baker was my favourite.

Not a huge who fan. But what a revelation Jodie is!

I got banned from Twitter for arguing with them. :D

Haha... Honestly, it's a TV show.. it moves with the times and to be honest, a lot of stuff is way ahead in that respect.

They're losing their Shit about a female Dr, yet there didn't seem to be any outcry when Ripley kicked the crap out of the Alien queen, or when Linda Carter (correct?) bossed it as Wonder Woman...

Hell, looking back, Alien(s) is so fucking progressive it hurts.

The ultimate, "Fuck you!" to puritanical Doctor Who fans would've been to cast a black woman as the Doctor. (Not that it should be the only reason for doing it, but it'd be amazing just for the outrage.)

And for something different: not exactly sci-fi, but I've been re-reading Down And Out In London And Paris (George Orwell) and you can already see the seeds of 1984 worldview in it.

Yeah, I'd love to see Twitter implode after that... Or better still, a black trans person... Can you imagine?

I've never read any Orwell... It's too close to reality for me ;)

There is a second season of the New Lost in Space that I believe is coming on Christmas Eve!!

I am a big Tom Baker fan as well. When he left the show I stopped watching.

I read Animal Farm and 1984. Both frightening because they speak so much truth about human nature.

Brave New World.

When I went to university I read loads of these type books. Didn't really study much of what I was supposed to but I did grow up a lot.

Need to reread quite a few of them.

If you do ... I’m there!

BNW, 1984 ... love them. Studied both at uni alongside A Modern Utopia and Herland.
