What frightens you?

If you had to change careers, to something challenging and different from anything you've ever tried, what would you be willing to do?

What is your all time favorite dessert?

What frightens me is leaving anything on the table with regards to my potential and purpose in life. So I try to always be kind and help others. I’m quick with an encouraging word or a compliment. I go after opportunities even if they slam shut in my face.

I would love to be a motivational speaker. That’d be fun.

My world famous Chocolate Trifle!

All you had to do was ask....

Holy cow! You're awesome! Thanks for sharing.

If you made it to the Voice, who would you want to be your coach?

Ok, but what about Chrissy?

Can you tell us how you met John Legend without giving away too much personal info??

I opened for him at a concert in Kansas City once.

And at another concert in Tulsa! He’s a really nice dude. Easy going.

Do you have a favorite student? I know teachers aren't supposed to pick favorites, but do you have one anyway?

What was the last picture you took?

When was your last belly laugh?

What is your most cherished memory?

Nah. No favorite students, but I do have favored classes. Lol. It’s hard not to.

It’s been a long time since I took a picture.

Last belly laugh? A student serenading the whole class via Zoom.

One of my most cherished is the first time I stepped into a classroom 8 years ago.

Because you are a teacher, do you have any regrets because of the pandemic or does this make it more interesting for you?

Actually, this pandemic just makes it concrete that I’m ready to shift into school administration.

Do you see any software better suited to teaching for your school? Are you ready to deal with parents mostly and the state guidelines? There are a lot of teachers not wanting to branch out and learn new procedures. Are you ready for the backlash you'll receive from the teachers and working with the union? Not to mention the board of education for Texas...

I’m ready to learn all I need to learn to do all of that. Most of that only comes through experience, and I’m ready for that. Mostly, I’m ready to have a bigger impact across my school and to become a bigger advocate for teachers. I’m a natural encourager, which seems to sometimes get drained from admin, but that’s me.

At least you know your strengths and you're willing to learn and be the change you want to see. Not many are that focused to know that about themselves or WANT that responsibility.

There’s a lot I don’t like about who I am, but my desire to care for and support others is something that I love.

Nothing yet. Lol. This school year has me stretched to the limit.

When you have some time to put into this dream, look me up. I have spent a few years on the periphery of the professional speaking world (made a few bucks on the side) and count several well-paid speakers among my friends. I'd be happy to lend a hand if you'd like.

I’m going to hit you up.

I listened to your song and it was so beautiful, thank you for sharing it. Do you have a favourite song you like to sing and if so why? What about it draws you to it?

What is it you don't like about yourself?

How much I long to connect with people. Sometimes I wish I was one of those people who was just fine being isolated and by myself. I also tend to put more in to relationships and friendships that I get back. I’m that guy who messages just to check on people, and I know it gets annoying, but that’s me. I’ve lost more friends and people from being annoyed with me over those things than anything.

That song is it. Hallelujah stirs me, not just the words, but the melodic structure of the music. It’s both haunting and inviting. I actually wrote my own version of it once and the melody enhanced the lyrics that I wrote. It’s the perfect song, in my opinion.

Oh and also Mozart’s Requiem Mass. it’s perfection. Utter perfection!
