Well, being serious for a few minutes, if you go back maybe fifty or sixty years, the news media was trusted, they were more or less honest, more or less reported the facts, and the guys like Walter Kronkite were respected by everyone. The ones like Walter Winchell maybe less so, but thats going back a ways. American politicians are not in general known for their superlative intelligence. Venality perhaps, altho as more MAGA politicians are elected, that's changing slowly. That doesn't get them elected. What does is appealing to their voters. One could look across both Democrats and the GOP and identify any number of morons with an IQ that wouldn't boil water. And yet they are elected for term after term.

As for lies, yeah, Democrats and GOP both. Pick the lies that favor your own biases. Confirmation bias. It's a thing. Human nature.

And of course, lies are now relative. The Democrats have made this plain with their "your truth is not my truth" narrative. Truth has become relative, and the attitude has spread from the left to the right. Karma. The left has chosen to change the context of lies, truth and words in general, and now we are all playing that game. Doesn't phase me. I enjoy playing with words. I can do it all day and all night and enjoy it.

So how do you define lies. There are so many, and your lie is my truth and vice versa. The media has made lies and truth meaningless and the entire transgender lie is just one very visible elephant-in-the-room sized lie. The Russiagate lie? The Hunter laptop lie? The covid lie? The Insurrection lie? The mostly peaceful protests lie? The Trump is Hitler lie? So many to choose from, and that we would argue about whether they are lies or not just illustrates how far gone into dysfunction our society and culture has traveled.

Nope, it's far far too late to talking about Congresspersons willingly spreading lies to their constituents. That horse is long gone. Now it's all about whose "truth" we can enforce. With their stranglehold on the media, the left had almost achieved that, but Elon Musk buying Twitter changed that game and now the battlefield is a bit more level.

And so the Haitians eat pets meme. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. People will believe or not based on their biases. My own personal cultural background allows me to give rather more credence to it than yours does. And it's a great meme to arouse support for deporting illegals.
