Average age on Lit

I've often wondered, when Moses parted the Red Sea were LC69 and Simon standing on a hill top arguing about it?
Truth is, we go back even further, I gave the apple to Eve and told her to offer it to Adam to prove how weak willed men are. Simon said he'll never bite.

The rest is history.

Most forums are dead now, taken over by social media platforms like Reddit and X/facebook/etc.

Forums like this one are archaic, and tend to be occupied by a small set of regular posters that know each other well enough that you can tell what they are going to post when you see their name.

Whether or not that's good or bad is up to each person to decide. It has its pluses and minuses.
I've often been tempted, when a new thread topic plops down, to see if I could reliably create a couple pages worth of posts, knowing exactly what the main personalities say (and what constitute their flash-points and thresholds.) Depending on who was logged in, I'd like to think my accuracy rate would be fairly high, even accounting for (and including) the tangential derailments that arrive a dozen or so posts in. A good writing exercise anyway,

I am also reminded of the outbreak of STDs at the Villages here in FL. If you don't know it is a large senior living community.
I don't really think it's an outbreak at this point. It's just sort of normal. There was an incident up there a few years ago where an 80 year old woman and her 60 year old boy friend got arrested for public indecency when they got caught going at it in one of the public squares at 2 am.

Wow! They got arrested? I was caught in Valley Forge Park and the ranger that caught us said, "You shouldn't be doing that." It was a lunch time hook up. I wan't a senior at the time.

You'd think they would know how that shit gets past around and wear a raincoat! But maybe they forgot that part of it.

Supposedly the issue is that since all the ladies are past menopause birth control is irrelevant and the chips fall where they may. Plus they are all the generation where a little penicillin would fix the drip.

This is because of Viagra, raises one head, lowers the other back to teenage boy status.
Also the reason a lot of gross old men get divorced now to chase the twenty year olds, and why infidelity in general is up.

I remember some senator putting forward a bill she knew wouldn't pass, but it was a shot at men seeking to control women's bodies. The bill stated that if a man wanted a prescription for Viagra, it could only be granted if the wife signed off, that way she'd know and find out if it were for her, or his sugar baby.

As one can imagine that bill didn't stand a chance.

I did not know that but on one visit a nurse was putting on gloves, she called my name as she was pulling them on and snapped one suggestively as she smiled.

That's a great question. Where is the alternative? A03 seems like it is about so much more than erotica.
Ao3 has much more than erotica, yes, but oh my god there's so much erotica.
It's really about learning the tags & search functions. You can find erotica for pretty much anything. Honestly, I'm amazed the whole publishing industry hasn't copied/stolen Ao3's tagging system as a marketing tool.

The last time I saw anyone dig into the statistics was a panel at a con a few years back. Data said that Ao3 leans heavily into queer erotica & romance while Fanfic.net tended straight-er, but there's a heavy mix of every which way on both sites.

Viagra's part of it. But also, seniors communities have a lot of newly single people who went through school a bit too early for the 1980s-era "wear a condom or you'll get AIDS and die" sex-ed that Gen X got, and a lot of them think of STIs as a young people's problem.
