bbws or larger breasted women..... Need bra advice

CutieMouse VS bras don't fit me either... and I'm a 32D. :) Of course I'm picky as hell said:
Damn Victoria's Secret. I'm telling you, makes a woman's boobs feel all discriminated against. By the way, I loved the Wizard of Bras link, if you haven't checked it out, do. :)

I don't need to; I'm in the business. (And no, I don't work for Victoria's Secret. lol)

I am a 44H......for many years I tried cramming my girls into 40ddd, 44dd, and all other sizes.

I got fit for a bra at Lane Bryant. I then got refit by a tailor when I was being fitted for a bridesmaids dress. Still a 44H.

I wear mostly Cacique. They are in my price range. ANd with one or two exceptions, I find them to be durable and long lasting. I had a few bras from them for over 5 years. They were pretty beat up by the end. I didn't have the money to get new bras......so I guess I shouldn't complain that they lasted as well as they did.

A gf of mine swears by Torrid, but they are too small for me to try. She also checks out hipsandcurves for other bra styles.

Good luck in your search. I am not sure I was helpful at all. But I definitely understand your struggle.

Forgot to thank everyone for the replies. Thanks. :)

More bra trouble makes me resurrect this thread. I ended up at a 40H with Cacique and have been wearing that. But I lost weight and they shrunk so now I can't figure out what to order. If I only lost 15'ish lbs..could I really drop 2 cup sizes? According to the calculations on the website I am now a 38F. The 38 is likely but I don't think the cup size shrunk that much.. so I am wondering if I should order a G instead. lol

Getting a breast reduction or something eventually. Just losing that little bit of weight and they look worse.

Is there not a LB/Cacique store close by where you can go try them on? I think that would be the easiest thing. Ordering bras if you're not certain of size is a pain.

No, that is my problem. For some odd reason, the 2 nearest LB stores within an hour radius do NOT stock bras over DDD. It's ridiculous and I complain every time I go in there. So I have to charge about $200 worth of different sizes..pick a size I like..return them.. then order again.

I found a bra I like and can stick with until they're a more normal size but until then what a pain in the ass. We have a Lane Bryant Outlet in MA and they are even worse. Lots of Cs.. probably because all the C people are at Victoria's Secret.. lol

Aww I loved Body By Victoria when I was a 32DD. lol There was also a front closed Satin Skin bra I loved that they stopped making. Odd.. with all the skinny girls that get boob jobs you would think they'd have bigger size ranges. Even most of their models have fake boobs..I guess fake boobs don't need as much support or whatever.

15-20# is the point at which a bra size will change. The challenge is where it changed... did you lose inches through the ribs, through the bust, or both?

American manufacturers don't make a larger variety of sizes because A) it's too expensive to draft/grade/design 90+ sizes like the Europeans do, and B) it would require drafting/grading/designing more complicated patterns (30-60 pieces per bra [like Europe] compared to the current 9-15 pieces), which would drastically increase prices. It's simply cheaper/more cost effective for businesses like VS to "cross size" women into 30 sizes.

And "fake boobs" do so need just as much support. Your average *well done* augmentation costs $6-10K +, and has to be redone every 10-15 years; why make the surgery more difficult than necessary? (A polite argument I have had with clients more times than I can count. )

I wear prima donna bras, they are from belgium...I was totally sized wrong in dept stores, I ended up having to go out of town..I was fitted correctly, and shown how to get into a bra correctly, and I walked out of the change room a whole new woman, my breasts were "up there"....not resting on my tummy. they were halfway between my shoulder and elbow, the straps were not digging in and i could hardly feel the bra on...my first bras were a 44H, I`m now a G....I tried to get a bra this summer from a plus size store and putting one of these on was the most horrible thing i ever did, I can never go back to them...so, I will spend the $$ on a good bra, I`ve paid $179 for one...my doctor keeps asking me if i`m doing ok with my breast size, I assure him, as long as I can buy these bras, I will be fine...I put it down to quality, and a great trained and knowlegable staff where I shop....and remember, every brand of bra has different sizing, so you can`t always go by that...hand wash your bras, take good care of them, and they will take good care of you....

In have had problems for years finding a sports bra for my large boobs. I've even resorted to two bras at a time, truth be know. If I didn't have good support for my E cups I'd probably end up with black eyes. I finally found a really good sports bra, and the fitting instructions were spot on first time which was great.

Definitely cup size. I assume band size as well since the straps were falling down my shoulders. I don't know. I measured myself and decided to order 3 different bra sizes and see what happens. I went with 38F, 38G and 40G just in case it's just the cup size that went down. My mistake is not measuring myself when I was properly fitted just to have as my own personal record for when this happened! I took it for granted that I would be able to go back to LB and get someone to measure me perfectly again. LOL

Marguerite01, I used to love Enell. I've always been odd sizes even when I was thin. I was actually in a 00 at one point when I was around 32DD/DDD back when I fit in VS..(Not sure I ever really fit in VS or just stuffed them in there..lol) but the shoulder straps were too big. I tried 00,0 and1 and there was always something wrong. All the bounce I had was because of the big shoulder straps. I had go to a specialty store and get measurements taken and I had a custom sized one back then. I'm afraid of Enell now...despite the "bust measurements"..they only go up to DDD and I'm way over DDDs.

And wow..never knew that about implants that they had to be redone every so many years. That must suck.

Went down a whole cup size within a month. H to a G. Same exact bra. Maybe even band size too. Going to get measured tomorrow by someone who knows what they're doing just to be sure.

I should start charging guys 20 bucks to play with them before they shrink even lower and are a "normal" letter. . lol

My recommendation is to go with a custom fitted bra. It not only fit better but last over a year and I look better wearing it since it pulls everything back up into alignment.

Yeah, I'll look into that in a few months. At the least I want another Enell bra and that has to be customized. No point now when my last new bra didn't last a month because they're shrinking.

Love this one.

I really like Lane Bryant's bras...they have one called ,the plunge, it works good for all clothing and they have removable push up, things....

O and don't you hate it when other bras are too small and it's like you have your boobs coming out of the top...and you feel like your cup is running over!

Good luck!

I definitely endorse Lane Bryant bras. They are affordable and true to size, so if you follow the measurements on the website at home, you will get a great fitting bra. I too used to have the problem with my boobs spilling out of the tops. The balconette bra solved my problems with this. I -live- in them now, and I never feel the need to adjust them. The only problem is that there are very few styles at Lane Bryant for bigger sizes. I wear the 36F, and all they have are full-coverage, balconettes, and plunge bras (this last one is a rare find). And usually is standard colors.

If you are looking to buy more of these, LB has a semi-annual sale where they sell the bras Buy2Get2, so they are basically half price. I usually stock up after Christmas (they also do it in July), since I've been losing weight consistently too and have been needing to adjust sizes. Good luck!

I was going to say- get them customised, I have had four customised ones from them and they are fabulous. However, if you're shrinking you may have to wait until you stabilise and then just do what you can in the meantime....

So ever since these things grew, I am having a hard time with bras. Last year I finally found one that felt comfortable and didn't make me bulge out at the top. I was wearing a 44F.

Went to bra store a few days ago and the saleswoman insisted I wasn't that size and insisted on measuring me. She said I was the same size as one of the girls who worked there and put me in a 40H. I admit, I looked "smaller" and somehow tucked in more. But I've actually tried that bra before but in a different size. It is uncomfortable and doesn't stay in place. I've read the reviews on their website and everyone has the same complaints as I do - The straps do not stay up and any bend and normal day movement pops them back out and you have to stuff them back in every 10 minutes. The bra looks good the first day. 3 days now and it's happening all over again. I don't know how this bra is even still in business. They also hurt like hell and swell up in it from being so uncomfortable when I finally take it off.

I decided to stick with the size and try the bra I like in a 42H(They did not have 40's in stock) And I am bulging out at the top again. It also seems too loose.

Went back to the original bra I like in a 44F.. Not sure if maybe I lost weight or I got used to the feel of the other bra.....But this one covers the top and there's no bulge in the top but I am bulging out the sides/arm pit area.. UGH

I have no shape. Being this big, yes they "hang" so that means they flop over in a bra. My goal is to lose weight....then eventually get breast reduction surgery. But in the mean time, I can't lose weight when I can't even find a bra I am comfortable walking in and don't have to adjust and tug at constantly. I feel like I deserve to be uncomfortable for letting myself get like this but it's not helping me to fix it. So far my only solution is wearing a sports bra/wireless bra over the bulge to help hide it and keep it in place. Anyone else go through this and have any advice? I've been to a couple bra speciality stores and it's the same story every time !
Nooooo don't get surgery..please dont

I would agree that surgery isn't a solution for many women if it's just to improve looks. But I know a few women who took that route to relieve back pain and their only comment was that they wished they'd done it a long time ago. There are very good medical reasons for breast reduction surgery.

My go-to is Shein at my cousin's recommendation.
