It's kind of foolish to express exasperation over the fact that "typical" women in any country don't look like the supermodel or porn star representatives on this thread, don't you think? It wouldn't occur to me to complain that most girls in America don't look like Playboy centerfolds or swimsuit models either.

good make up nice clothing, but while I'm not a racists like the woman/man who said I was just because I had the nerve to express an opinion which didn't agree with hers, the real middle eastern women are held down and never given a chance to look 1/2 as good as these which are shown. If this person would think before she spoke, she would realize they never have the chance to look like these. In fact wearing their clothing demanded by their men and government they never are seen by anyone.

The Middle East isn't a monolith. Ignoring Israel and just focusing on Muslim countries, not every Arab/Muslim country is Saudi Arabia with salafi imams dictating how people live their lives. Those with secular governments, which are the majority, allow quite a lot of personal and religious freedom. In most North African countries, Lebanon, Jordan, etc. there are no laws and little social pressure to wear hijabs, much less veils. Even in politically nasty dictatorships like Assad's Syria and (formerly) Saddam's Iraq and Gaddafi's Libya, the repression was political, not personal or religious. Women can walk around in bikinis on Syrian beaches just as they can in western countries.
