The thing I enjoy about Bluesky is the lack of algorithm. It's there if you want, but nothing pushes you back to it unless you decide to check it out. All other sites end up pushing you back regardless of what you set it to.

You can actually create your own algorithm if you want to, grabbing the raw feed and scripting something up.

Except it has and it does. Referencing a single piece of software is a fun cherry picking activity, but fails to acknowledge full fledged OS, databases and web server software, to name just a few examples. Twitter used to be open source.

I am not saying that BlueSky will or will not be successful. However, they've made it so that interested developers can build upon its success and possibly chart a different course than it's failures.

Additionally, it avoids the minefield of hidden algorithms which plague existing social media platforms where users don't have a choice of what they do there.

If you want to hate on me for my appreciation of that, feel free.
