Thank you. I used to love Holmes so much. His asexuality was something that really struck a chord with me. I am glad you have that name. I decided to wear my Irene Adler costume, apparently. Haha!Us bookish nerds must support each other.
When I created this account, at the time I was running a Sherlock Book Club for the library I worked at. It met every month fir almost three years. Each month we discussed one of the canonical stories.Thank you. I used to love Holmes so much. His asexuality was something that really struck a chord with me. I am glad you have that name. Oh that is so, so neat! I work at a library right now! I wish I could have attended. Nineteenth century literature is definitely my thing. I have an Enola Holmes graphic novel to read. I enjoyed the first film, though Cavill is far too handsome to play Holmes. He will always be Jeremy Brett to me.When I created this account, at the time I was running a Sherlock Book Club for the library I worked at. It met every month fir almost three years. Yay. Always nice to meet another library dweller!Oh that is so, so neat! I work at a library right now! I wish I could have attended. Nineteenth century literature is definitely my thing. Same! I loved Enola Holmes. Like, her posing as a widow was awkward and hilarious. And I feel I'd probably end up doing something like that myself, even now. Oh my gosh, a Victorian literary fiend! I am going to, like, go full on excited puppy mode!Yay. Always nice to meet another library dweller!
Jeremy Brett is definitely the best Holmes. Certainly the one I grew up with. I agree that Cavill is not great casting, but since I have a massive crush on the giant, lovable nerd that he is, I can look past it.
If I might make a suggestion, you may like the book "The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher" by Kate Summerscale. It's a non-fiction Victorian true crime about the first real analytical Detective in England who inspire Wilkie Collins.Same! I loved Enola Holmes. Oh that's neat. I love nonfiction and Victoriana, but I have to say true crime isn't my thing anymore. I find it too gruesome as I get older. I used to be able to handle the likes of Jack the Ripper and Amelia Dwyer, but now I just have seen too much of the world for it to not phase me. I do want to pick the heck out of your brain, though. If I might make a suggestion, you may like the book "The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher" by Kate Summerscale. Fair enough. Definitely not a subject for everyone. I just thing it's a fascinating piece on the mindset that inspired the detective stories of the time.Oh that's neat. Of course. Very much so. Of course I am going to stan Edgar Allan Poe, though. A goth girl can't not.Fair enough. Definitely not a subject for everyone. I just thing it's a fascinating piece on the mindset that inspired the detective stories of the time.
A tale as old as time for sure! Hot dang.So...I didn't go with a book theme this time, but I did decide to wear my Beauty and the Beast necklace....
Not sure how long this will remain up as it's probably the most brazen picture I've ever posted anywhere ever, but there you go. *dies*
Oh yeah, a lot of props to Murders in the Rue Morque for setting a lot of the groundwork and atmosphere.Of course. Very much so. Of course I am going to stan Edgar Allan Poe, though. A goth girl can't not.

Never a bore to discuss books, but I'll certainly stop dominating your thread. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk more in the future.Well, I don't want to bore you, but thank you super much for the conversation and the kind words!

Wow! Love this pic!Hi there. I am feeling a little brave, so I thought I'd post a suggestive picture of myself with an appropriate book. I am terribly shy and haven't posted pictures of myself in several years. Maybe other people would care to post pictures of themselves along this theme? I think it would be fun.
Desiree giveth and Desiree taketh away.
