Britwitch's Hallowe'en Party 2012

He pauses just inside the entrance, considering for a moment, then turns and steps quickly out. A short, silent search is conducted, and satisfied with what he finds, he returns to his fellow stalker. A handful of small, smooth pebbles are offered, and he holds one between thumb and forefinger of his other hand.

The pebble is thrown then, arching over the top of the maze and landing with a soft clatter of noise in a corner, a sound the girls might take as giving away the position of those that pursue. A grin is visible in the dim light as he turns back, sure he'd not need to speak for the other to catch on...

It's quiet. Eerily so.

They're not talking. Not fair.

Then there's an odd sound, something soft but a sound nonetheless. It seems to come from the opposite side of the maze to the one I know the entrance to be at. I frown.

Surely they're not over there already. Did they go by us and we didn't see?

I want to look, to check. I won't. I'm not that stupid. But something tells me that we might have met our match here.

A squeeze of Dream's hand to reassure her. We're not found yet. Not by a long way.

She jumps as she heard something nearby, it was closer than she wanted. Did they already get through the maze. She squeezed Brit back, acknowledging her as her eyes trailed through the darkness. Then she saw a small cave like place, at least she thought that what it was. She tapped Brit lightly, point to the cave. Her eyes quizzing as she felt curious if that area may be safer.

He had just been about to take a step inside the maze, but scuttle came back with a handful of pebbles. With a grin he watched the other man toss one into the maze. Ah good plan. Reaching down he grabbed a few of his own from the maze and lobbed one toward the other side of the maze, closer to where they were. That should leave them confused.

He gives a quick nod as another pebble flies, and begins to make his way deeper into the maze. Coming to a junction, he pauses and takes a moment to toss another in yet a different direction, listening intently for the rustle and clatter of it's landing, and any move it may have prompted them to make.

More noises. And from random parts of the maze.
I'm not surprised but I
am a little nervous.

I follow Dream's finger and notice the slight cave on the opposite side of the clearing in which we're hiding. Maybe it
would be an even better place to secrete ourselves.

I nod and after taking a slightly shakier than I was expecting breath I start to creep away from the wall we've been pressed up against and tip toeing through the grass towards the cavern. It's slightly overgrown, vines of some kind over hanging it. If we make it, I doubt they'd ever find us inside it!

She glanced around quickly, making sure they were not around as more noise made her nervous. She watched as Brit stepped away toward the cave. A thought came, she quickly took of her heels, it would be easier to run without them and tossed them over the wall, listening to the soft thud they made then she quickly tip toed back up to Brit, her hand meeting the Witch's as they quickly but quietly moved to the cave.

-Creeping quietly into the maze after scuttle he paused silently at the junction. The next pebble dropped and he couldn't quite hear anything. They were being smart and quiet. Fuck subtlety. He would not hear the end of it if they got away and he was not prone to accept failure. Letting the rocks fall quietly to the ground he took a few steps back, then leaped forward. Hands hit the top of the maze and with a grunt he heaved himself up so he could crouch on top. It was dark and poorly lit but he thought he could make out movement into a deeper darkness. He pointed in the general direction and then slipped down from the wall. Managing to not break something in the process. Miracles do happen!-

A grin formed slowly as he watched the top of the maze being overcome. He nodded at the indication that was given, and didn't hesitate to begin moving in that direction. Whether or not they'd actually been seen, he had no clue. But a hint of a direction was better than none at all.

Closer, hopefully, he moved, but every few paces he'd toss one of the few remaining stones into the same, opposite area of the maze.

Let them hear, and think the pair was hopelessly stuck in the wrong place.

Let them get comfortable.

Let them feel safe.

I hear Dream's shoes as they hit the ground and as I trip for the thousandth time in my own heels I almost wish I'd done the same.
A barely contained curse as the last catching of my heel almost sends me spilling onto the ground completely. I stumble but manage to stay upright.

We reach the cavern, set into the wall and covered with vines it's the perfect hiding place. Swishing them out of our way I usher Dream inside.

Hearing more noises, all coming from the same part of the maze. I smile in the gloom. Maybe we did outfox them after all.

I guess now all there is to do is wait until they give up. At least I'm not on my own out here. I know I made the maze but still...I didn't realise how good a job I'd done!

It's only when I'm about to lean back against the wall and risk a sigh of relief that I spy, glittering out on the ground, an earring. Reaching up I realise it's one of mine.

It's small, tiny almost. They might not notice. Right?

She grasp at Brit, trying to keep her upright as they moved. Finally reaching the small cave, a safe place... hopefully.

She squeezed in, curling her knees to her chest as she watched Brit follow. She wanted to laugh triumphantly, they have hide well and so far they haven't been found. Of course that could all change. The ones that stalked them were far from stupid and strong willed. It could be all night that they searched. She reached out, touching Brit's arms. Her eyes moving to see what she was looking at. A sparkly?

-Tada! He felt like he should be getting a silver medal in the olympics or something. But there was no cheering right now. He followed as scuttle crept forward, raining rocks down on the opposite side of the maze. He wanted to chuckle but he kept it silent. Instead his eyes drifted between his partner in crime and the ground, searching for signs. It was then he caught sight of something. Shoes? Oh, yeah they were on the right track-

Clever girl.

He glanced back at the sight of the shoes, a quick nod as if to say seems we're on the right track, and then his eyes were back on the ground, sweeping continuously as he moved forward, looking for any-

He stopped in his tracks, a glint in the grass catching his eye. It was only a quick flash, he'd nearly passed it off as dew catching the light, but the rest of the grass didn't seem wet...

Frowning, he rocked a little side-to-side, changing the angle at which he was looking, and it was this that allowed him to see it. An earring that looked suspiciously familiar.

He looked back, index and middle finger pointing to his own eyes, and then pointing forward to the small piece of jewelery, left almost like a breadcrumb for them to find. He cast another pebble off across the maze, down to only one now.

He could almost smell them.

Damn. A figure came into view and stopped.

I knew he'd seen it, watched his head try to identify what it was.

Teeth latched onto lower lip as I tried to keep my breathing under control. Trying to stop it from making the vines that concealed us dance about too much.

This was it. The 'hunters' would either find them or move on and give the two of them a chance to make a run for the house.

I squeezed Dream's hand. All we could do was wait and see...

Her breath came to a screeching halt as they came into view, her hand gripping tightly at Brit's. Don't find us... don't find us. Her body shivered slightly, goosebumps running up her arm, a chill snaking down her spine. She glanced away from them, trying to find a path through. Where could they go? If they got separated she was surely the one who would pay. She didn't know the maze like Brit did. She didn't know her way to the house. If only they could get to the house then they could lock the doors and seal the windows.

She felts something, not the shiver, not the chill. Something else. Her eyes turning slowly to her foot.

Her body tensed at what she saw, a freaking huge spider crawling slowly over her skin. She resisted the urge to kick her foot or move in any way. It didn't scare her, but the feeling tickled and she wanted the damn thing off!

-Scuttles motion caught his attention. He saw the glint of something in the grass. A piece of jewelry perhaps? Not surprising that scuttle found it first, good thing too as for himself, he was likely to end up with it jamming through his shoe in a freak accident. He peered into the darkness, was that some sort of cave? He couldn't help but grin. He put a hand on Scuttles shoulder to stop him. Turning him around to face him. He used one hand and the fact that Scuttles body was blocking the cave mouth to hold up a finger, then a second as if doing a count down-

Nah, they won't be in there. I know for a fact that Dream is so scared of the dark she'd never go in there we should keep *

-The silent count down of three, and he darted toward the cave mouth-

He glanced back at FD, brow furrowed as he tried to make out what he was looking at. Something in the darkness, but he'd been so focused on the earring that he didn't have time to make it out before he was turned, facing the other man. His head tilted slightly, and by the count of two he'd figured it out. They'd been spotted.

He hesitated for a moment at the count of three, all but ignoring the words that were clearly not for his benefit, and it was only at the first movement that he saw the small cave, covered in vines. They either had them, or were about to feel like idiots.

With a quick spin, he dashed for the cave.

It was too dark to see clearly enough what was going on but the voice that spoke was more than loud enough to be heard.

"Nah, they won't be in there. I know for a fact that Dream is so scared of the dark she'd never go in there we should keep-"

I almost thought we'd gotten away with it. There was nothing to do but wish we'd simply be absorbed into the dark as the pair charged towards the vine curtain before us.

As the hanging plants were pulled back to reveal us and our hiding place all I could do was offer a weak smile and raise my hands in a theatrical mime, my voice when it spoke was trembling far more than I would have liked.

"Ta-da!"

She twitched her foot lightly trying to get the damned thing off. She hadn't forgotten about them, but she did assume they wouldn't spot the cave. Then she heard the voice. Her head tilting to the side at the words. I'm not afraid of the--- ah fuck. The vines were ripped away. She gave a small squeak, finally kicking her foot at the surprise, the spider flying to the ground. Her eyes moving to the figures at the mouth of the cave, only visible by the small light behind them.

"Ta-da!"

A small chuckle formed at Brit's word as her own hands floated up, mimicking the act. "Guess you guys are just too good for us..." She said weakly.

-Well his instincts hadn't been all wrong after all. Finding them sure beat looking like a complete dumb ass with vines and leaves stuck in his hair. Still he looked a little worse for the wear. He never had put his shirt back on, and that meant the ugly red mark from where he had slammed into the wall on his leap would be obvious when there was enough light to see it. Laughing softly he stalked forward, draping the silk around Dream's neck with a shake of his head-

Never underestimate the power of pervy old man radar!

-He flashed a grin-

He could only snicker at the quick exchange, head shaking slightly. The last stone in his hand was tossed, absently and carelessly, over his shoulder, and upon the returning of the silk to Dream, he cast a sideways glance at FD.

"I think we should... claim our prize, no?"

Grinning, he shifted his attention back to the Witch in front of him - and noting the empty earlobe in the process - his brow arching as he considered her.

"Never underestimate the power of pervy old man radar!"

"I think we should... claim our prize, no?"

My eyes widen in a ridiculous attempt at innocence on my part. I lean forward and tap SB with a grin.

"Tag! You're it! Now you go hide and we find you..."

My voice was no where near as confident by the end of my sentence as it was at the start.

It was worth a try. Not worth much. But worth a try.

"Tag! You're it! Now you go hide and we find you..."

-He couldn't help it, he laughed. Perking a brow at SB with a slow grin.-

"I think she claimed you, and I already have one on a leash so...."

-He gave the silk a little tug, flashing a wink at Dream. His free hand drifting up, index finger tapping his bottom lip thoughtfully-

"Hmmmm now that I have you what to do? Hmmm. I think I have an idea."

The feeling of the silk on her neck made her shiver as her eyes watched them. The tap and 'tag' Brit gave made her lips twitch into a small smile. Maybe they'll go for it. If not... there was still running. She wasn't full caught. Not yet.

She reached out and poked FD in the center of the chest. "Yeah... you're it." His comment about pervy old man radar made her chuckle. Pervy? For sure. Old? We'll will see about that when she decided to dash away. Not yet... not time. First they needed out of this cave.

His own laugh echoed FD's, and he bent at the waist, bringing his face closer to the Witch's. Reaching out with the hand that had tossed the last pebble, he caught a strand of hair between his index and middle finger, twisting it around a digit absently as he shook his head.

"No no. No more hiding. I found you. Now... I take you."
