Bro’s thread

Y'all know I don't dump my personal crap into anyone's thread, but I just want to give a heads-up: I'm an alcoholic. I've been sober 14 years. If you want to have a "Star Wars drinking game" or something, that's cool. I just won't participate. I can't. Oh, I can have a beer or two with friends. That's the biggest difference between me now vs. me 15 years ago. I can just have a beer or two and then go to soda or coffee, without it turning into an all-night drinking binge. If we got together for a night out, you know you can count on me to be your designated driver and get everyone home safe. 🫂

I’m not sure if the person who invented NyQuil deserves a Nobel prize or a punch in the face. That wasn’t a nap that was a coma. Did I miss anything?
I feel like I need to get me some of that. I've been sick for the last 3 days but not really able to properly sleep either 😥

That shit knocks my wife out. Like, sleep through all her alarms level of unconscious.

It makes me tired, and if I can't get at least 7 hours I'll be a little groggy, but nothing like that.

Congrats on the sobriety man.

I've never been much of a drinker myself, despite my avatar mentioning bourbon and all. Only ever been drunk 3 times, one of which was my bachelor party. So, I can't identify with what you've gone through, but I can respect the hell out of it.

I'd be the other DD with you. I go through most of my daily life "packing heat" due to my line of work, so I generally don't drink in public. Too much risk for me.

It straight knocked me out for 6 hours. Still shaking out cobwebs.

I hope you get feeling better @FlyingThruLife

We’re all curious now. Are you a police officer? Bounty hunter? Hit man?

Good morning Bros.

Haha, close. Pretrial Officer. Also was a correctional officer for about 8 years. I don't carry as part of work, but as a result of it.
Better safe than sorry.
I was never handy with a pistol. Give me a rifle, and i’ll take the wings off a gnat at a hundred yards. With a hand gun, I couldn’t shoot myself in the foot if I was aiming. Eye dominance thing I think.

Same on the eye dominance, I just turn my head a bit to line up my dominant eye. Takes away some peripheral on the left side, but I'm a much better shot doing it. Give me rifle shooting any day though, if I'm shooting for pleasure it'll be about 80% rifle, 20% handgun.

That being said in the event if a defensive shooting, you're typically point-shooting anyway so actually lining things up ends up being moot.

I'm not sure which one's more appropriate for this discussion.

Happy Friday gents!
All this talk about shooting, after I just recently got into paintball again. Definitely not the most accurate, but it's fun cuz you actually get to shoot people 😂

I've wanted to go paintballing for forever, closest I've come was laser tag. Laser Tag is also how I ended up with a scar above my eye.

I'm in the process of taking up axe throwing at the moment...

Oh boy, if you manage to give yourself a scar over your eye playing laser tag, I'm terrified for what you will end up doing with axe throwing 😂🤣

Paintball is a hell of a lot of fun, the problem is that paint is only accurate till around 50 ft or so, and because the ball's naturally have a seam, they can start curving every now and again. It is quite amusing at the start of a paintball match on a big field when people start firing from a long distance. Every now and again I get hit, and the ball just bounces off 😂

I mean, apparently hand to hand combat is frowned upon in laser tag. 🤷‍♂️🤣

In all seriousness, though, got a door kicked closed while I was running through the doorway. I was leading with my face, not a good tactical move.

Yep, I'm cross dominant as well. I switched to Left-handed archery about 10 years ago. While it was very weird feeling at first, my shooting improved greatly and now it's just natural.

I do switch eyes with handguns and it's improved a bit. But I just don't shoot enough to be considered 'good'. I only really have handguns for fun. I've started getting into revolvers, latest is an 1858 .45 Colt blackpowder conversion that's just so much fun. Can shoot cap/ball or swap cylinders and shoot .45 Colt.

I'm almost strictly right handed-right eye with rifles, but I do have scopes on them all, so that helps. There's been a few occasions where shooting Lefty was needed and I can do it but it is not a natural feeling.

They had axe throwing on the ocho or somewhere. I got so into it. Watched for hours. Keep us posted.

I tried it out when a local axe throwing place that opened recently had their mobile setup out at an event. After switching axes after my first throw, I was sticking them like nothing. It's addictive.

I've already priced a set of axes, the expensive part is the target/stand to practice with!

The match I watched, these two guys were deadlocked in a tie for like 16 rounds. They couldn’t miss. It was awesome.

Do paint balls hurt? Cause I’ve got an idea.
I mean, depends where you are hit really. Sometimes they sting a bit, it is a little ball of paint flying at you at around 280 ft per second.

It is more the fear of getting shot that stops people from being aggressive or really having fun. If you run out there and get shot a bunch, sure every now and again it stings, but it's not so bad

Ya, I wasn't that good for sure. 🤣 Though I think with some practice I could get decent. Guy said I figured out faster than most that throwing harder doesn't help. 🤣 My biggest issue was my height, my release point is so high that I'm not throwing as level as most so it's a bit harder to zero in trying to count on the drop.
