I really admire Joss Whedon as a writer and think that he writes very convincing and charming characters and relationships. He can certainly do sexy and I would love to see a piece of fan fiction that actually captures this tone rather than just puts the characters names into some generic fantasy sequences. It would be nice to see an erotic story that is true to the way that the characters have always been written, but with greater sexual content. There were quite a few scenarios on the show itself that could have gone this way if there was an adult version of the show!

I never got into the comics continuation of the story, so I think it would be good to see a fantasy fanfic narrative that went on after the end of the show that could fit in as an alternative storyline that actually works with the established TV canon. My suggestion would be to build a new storyline around Dawn. As somebody else mentioned above, on the show she was a cute kid living in her big sister's shadow, but now that she has grown up you could develop her character more freely than some of the others. Michelle Trachtenberg has certainly become quite a beautiful young woman, so I don't think people would have a problem fantasising about an adult Dawn and separating it a little from their memory of the teenage kid in the show.

I'd suggest a story series like - "Dawn, The Vampire Layer". In this story you'd develop on the last series' ideas about Dawn thinking she might be a potential slayer and then realising she isn't and her feeling a little jealous and excluded by Buffy training all the potentials. Like I said, I don't know how this progresses in the comics continuity, but in this version you'd have Buffy still training and leading her army of slayers now they've all been superpowered and Dawn wanting more and more to do her own thing. So, she, now a young woman, goes out to kill vampires herself. Only she's not so good at fighting them and, instead, distracts them by seducing vampires and killing them as they have sex with her. You could have her increasingly drawn to the dark and sexy side of sleeping with vampires, a little like what happened with Riley's relationships. Given Dawn was always very close to Willow and always rooting for Willow and Tara's relationship, a more romantic sexual relationship between Dawn and Willow could also develop in a way that would be more appealing than the existent Dawn-Kennedy relationship that seemed tacked on as it had no chance to develop. Dawn and Willow already have a bond that could be built on.

I'm busy with other writing at the moment, so I don't think I'll ever write this idea up, but that's the kind of thing I'd like to see from erotic Buffy fan fiction.

Apart from Willow, Faith was always my favourite character, so more of her would work, especially because she is probably one of the characters more likely to have a lot of erotic adventures.

I don't think my suggestion is any more "alternate universe" than your ghost hunter Dawn (not that I think your suggestion is any worse than mine). I think that anything set after the close of the series is equally valid (including Joss Whedon's own comics) as long as they pay attention to the continuity that happened before. I think Dawn is an interesting character precisely because that original hook you refer to no longer applies. Much of her character arc over seasons 6 and 7 involved the fact that she only ever existed for one specific purpose, which is now no longer relevant. The storyline where she thought she might be a potential slayer showed how she desires to have a new supernatural role to play and, in one way or another, that's how I would see her character going.

Rowling has said again and again that she loves it that people write HP fanfic. She has said that she isn't into slash but she loves the way people rethink her concepts.I totally admire her for saying that, but I think that it's easier to rethink her because frankly she didn't put too much thought into her writing OR her characters in the first place.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified that it's slash fic specifically that she feels creeped out by (probably because a lot of it involves underage content).

Harmony was in the Angel universe after the 7th season (Sunnydale Earthquake).
She was swallowed whole at graduation and vomited out because she was a vampire.

Reading this has started to make me feel nostalgic for the show and wish it was still running. I always thought they could have kept it going without Sarah Michelle Whatshername. The rest of the core cast was easily strong enough to carry the show. They would have to move it to England so Head could be in it and just call it The Vampire Slayers. Without a main character (especially one that was so it's all about me) they could have developed the other characters and maybe brought in some new ones. I suppose they would have to replace Geller with another fat chested blonde to keep the producers happy but they wouldn't have to have her as the main lead. A love interest for Xander maybe.
