Business Travelers Unite

Kalamazoo in early August

Excited to join this thread; my new position will be affording me the opportunity to travel more, starting with a four-day trip to Kalamazoo Aug 8-11. If anyone’s in the area, let me know!

Hey hey!

Afternoon fellow business travelers.. I’ll be sweating my skin off in Ft. Lauderdale, FL area the week of July 21st if anyone is in the area. 31 male here!

Part of me misses the travel. Namely playing in hotel rooms, but I don’t miss airlines.

This. Very much so. I like being out of town, but hate the hassles of getting there and back. The airline traveler experience just keeps getting worse and worse.

YES. I agree. Especially since RDU seems to be cursed with multiple airlines always cancelling and delaying flights.

Las Vegas 7/13-7/20

It's going to be a loooooong week. If I don't survive then I hope my corpse will have good stories tattooed upon it. If anyone is up for a good time let me know!

Air flight has gotten very uncomfortable as the airlines try to squeeze more and more people onto the plane. I am an average size guy, 5'10", 180lbs and even I feel cramped nowadays in the seat. I don't know what big guys do. I know that if I see any really big person coming down the aisle I know which seat they are headed to, the one next to me so that we can fight over shoulder space during the flight.

Don't you just love getting 1/2 a coke and bag of nuts, if that, for your in-flight meal. lol.

How many people have sat in the terminal for 7 hours or so waiting for a continually delayed flight to only have it finally cancelled?

Somebody must have an interesting story from their travels this week?

FunLi, where were you this week and any morning coffee meetings?

I’m home! Scheduled home for three weeks on a project. Two weeks down, one to go..then I’ll be calling Fort Worth home for a week.

I travel about 50-70% of the month between Charlotte & DC area

How often are you in the DC area? Other than the humidity, this is a good time to be here as there's always something going on in the city, both inside and outside.

Depending where you're spending your time in the city, I can recommend some pretty awesome bars & other places to hang out, but don't want to recommend something on the far side of town from you.

Not so often as of lately. Once the rest of my region stabilizes I’ll be out there about once a month/every other month. Always looking for suggestions! I don’t mind traveling across town for good recommendation.

In Ponte Vedra Beach for the weekend and my rental is a Jeep. I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow afternoon...(beach time)

A couple off the top of my noggin:

Dirty Habit (used to be called Poste) has a really nice courtyard bar in the center of the Hotel Monaco. It's near the Capitol One Center and accross F ST NW from the National Portrait Gallery (also a neat place to wander around for a bit when its hot and humid out)

A great place for mussels and Belgium beer is St. Arnold's. I'm partial to the one off Jefferson Pl NW (near where Conn. Ave meets DuPont Cir)

For anyone, feel free to PM me questions for places to go and things to do in the area, just realize I may not be able to respond for a few days.

I was away for a couple of days, I made my way to the Marriot Hotel's bar. it was great they had an outdoor swiming pool, nice people at the bar drinking.

I did not know, but other people from my office where also staying at the same hotel, out of the blue I hear my name...

So much for getting lucky!

Although the barmaid, who made it a point to tell me she was 36, was beaming her smile at me very often. I am sure it's only because I am a good tipper; although, I wonder, as she did not act that way with the others!

"Mature" gentleman here. Traveling to the UK for several days beginning today. I'd enjoy some virtual conversation while I'm alone in my hotel room.

You know more places than I do about DC. lol. I will have to ask you for advice on where to go next time I get an evening out.

So how well do you like being home for 3 weeks? Miss having your own alone time to do what you want or glad to be off the road for a few weeks?

A guys always has to wonder, does she smile at me for a bigger tip or does she an actual interest in me? :) For me, I always guess it is for a bigger tip. lol
