But, yes, just kick dirt on the bad behavior and pretend it didn't exist. So much better than facing it. That would require showing character.

Back to the top, if you get a comment that you can't figure out and you can't (or don't want to) contact the one giving the comment about, isn't the best thing to do to look at what's being pointed to to see if there is something that now bothers you about it as well and then, if you do see it, act on it, and if you don't, just forget about the comment and move on?

Yes, in general, I agree with this. I've always said you can't live an die by the comments or the ratings on this side, and I practice that. I've been fortunate to have had a huge amount of positive feedback, so it hasn't been difficult to go along with it.

I almost always send some sort of note to those who comment and leave a name. I thank them for taking the time, and if they raised a specific issue, I address it as best I can. For the anonymous ones, especially the negative ones, I read them, consider them, and then deal with it accordingly, which often means forgetting and moving on.

The particular negative comment on this story (Morning Sun) amused me because it said the story was bland and over sentimental, yet didn't specify where or what. I only wish they'd said more so I could consider it. However, they didn't, and so I've filed it away and moved on.

I am not estragon's trainer or keeper. You have issues with him, take it up with him. You've both done it in numerous threads.

Exactly what am I supposed to "face" here? I didn't even know what his comment meant. I was noting that the thread had devolved from the original post -- which is fine. I had a lot of input, all enjoyable, and perhaps all has been said that needs to be.

You tell me what I should face, and I'll see what I can do about it.

I did take it up with estragon. Right here where the slur occurred. And I did so with a simple comment ("meow"). Estrago then projected/expanded the original slur without substantiating it.

You giggled with Estragon about it. And then backpeddled.

No, it's not something that should occur to throw the thread off--but estragon did that with the original uncalled for, completely off-topic slur--and then in persisting in the slur.

Face whatever you like about it. But you are doing the Pontius Pilot "thing" as far as I can see.

I posted back on OP before seeing that you want to shut the thread down. That's fine with me. But I don't mind pointing out that the dirt from the hole estragon is digging wth a little help from you is covering the bad behavior--with your blessing.

I hope you got the answer you needed from the OP. And I hope you reach the stage in your writing that you are confident enough in it not to have to worry about anonymous comments you get that aren't clear to you.

The thread can certainly go back to the topic or it can just close down. Fine with me. I've made the point I wanted to make--knowing that the slur wouldn't be backed up.

I do not want to shut the thread down. As I said before, it seemed that it had come down to you and estragon arguing, and no one else was contributing. That's all. I was making a simple observation -- that the conversation started by the OP seemed to have exhausted itself.
