Hey there! I have found a similar issue myself and have two work-arounds/suggestions to offer.

1. Try a plug like this, which has a ring you can pull, but slides between your cheeks.

2. Try a plug with a more rounded base like this one (it’s my favourite to wear). The flare is less drastic and more rounded and fits well (it’s also cute! )

Glass really isn't a good idea. A gentleman of my acquaintance bought a beautiful glass plug, had a nice flange and all, but the flange was smooth enough that the whole thing suddenly got slurped inside.

And you can't grip it or stab it.

After several hours of uncomfortable waiting in A&E and some even more uncomfortable hours of medics trying to retrieve it, they prepped him for surgery. Only then did they manage to lasso the thing and pull it out.
