I just skimmed most of that, but I like that they showed similarly sick, yet mainstream films (American Psycho, etc.) as examples that the BDSM movies weren't so crazy.

[91] First, I accepted Dr. Moser's opinion that consensual BDSM is part of normal and acceptable adult sexual behaviour and that viewing material similar to the Eleven Videos is a normal and appropriate part of that sexual behaviour.

Just scrolled the citation a second time, Dr Moser's name had caught my eye. Small dig through a specific section of my own library and promptly discovered why it had resonated earlier. I have the book Bound to be Free co written by Dr Moser and JJ Madeson. A quick flick through to confirm and now I recall a specific part of the book that presents as an interesting insight for consideration . Chapter 7 - Roles. A story written specifically for the book by JJ Madeson to present ideas from both Dominant and submissive perspectives over a chain of events including SM play. The clinical perspectives at the other end of the spectrum also very complimentary as a resource as well.

Forgive me , I don't do book reviews, serendipity got the better of me on this one.

Thanks for the post, Bex --- I did regular business with that company for about 6 years. Their stuff just isn't that crazy. I wonder who brought the suit? I never heard anything about it on the job, but there are so many lawsuits in the porn industry all the time that mostly they aren't news or even gossip unless you're directly involved.

Law & BDSM, the cupboard is remarkably bare to date. It will get there. Generalizing, I really consider it a sort of barometer for a more media generated mainstream pulse on what will & won't past socially pass because someone got slapped etc etc. Let's face it most media that surfaces pertaining to BDSM usually falls somewhere between an item of miscellaneous leather being worn ( sells copy ) and the local resident sadist ( sociopath ) at wtfI'mhavingfunmurderingpeople.com. All that aside there should be a reasonable feed into changes in censorship laws and how that potentially impacts as well.

I don't know if I have viewed anything by the Company in question, perhaps that it took place in Canada and is as you commented on is one in a swarm of suits the industry deals with ongoing.

Brace yourself for a quickie -- I'm on my way to bed to snatch a few Z's in my insanely busy month.

Sweet used to sell their material to at least one major U.S. subscription porn site and I assume they also distribute it themselves. From what I recall, word was that they were one of the few major producers of BDSM feeds that actually put their stuff out for resale/broadcast by other sites. I have no idea whether that was actually true or not since I really wasn't involved in that part of the business and BDSM wasn't a large niche for the company I worked for.

Gossip at the mo' is that I'm burning my bridge at both ends and in the middle currently. Was away from home taking care of a friend all last week, have out of town guests this week and am out of town the following week. Performing in the Vagina Monologues this weekend, trying to finish up all my credential program apps and testing in the next month and finally getting back up on the transportation situation after totalling my car back in November.

uh.....there's bound to be more but my brain just shut off.
