It's visually like a horror movie when they all emerge, but they're harmless. And it's absolutely fascinating. At least, as a kid in Virginia two broods ago I thought so.

I guess, although I meant that they don't do the "enormous cloud of insects that destroys entire fields" thing that grasshoppers can.
Mostly its a feeding frenzy for the birds.

It just seems like, in general, these things get prolonged (in any thread, not just here) because people keep feeding the trolls. If everyone just sucked it up and stopped feeding {i.e. responding), they'd move on to another bridge.

Yeah, but I don't consider what you guys do lurking.
