Collar's Frivolity

I have a rescue dog - she's now 7. A teacup schnauzer. Her cute looks do not match her terrible personality. I love her but... she does not love the world. She's been moved many times, is always anxious and very fearful.

We spent time in Florida last winter... another new home for her to deal with. Her stuffed tiger is her favorite toy. The first night in the new place, I couldn't find her; she's usually within a few feet of me or the husband.

I walked in to the bedroom and the tiger tail let me know she was safely hiding under the bed. :)

This is why we love her. You can see her face is "hard" and on guard. Schnauzers are guard dogs. This is her place, under husband's chair. She used to sit with him when he was in a real chair. Now, his lap is too bony. So this is her place, protecting her dad.

Although she's seven, we've only had her a year. Her demeanor has improved a lot, she's less fearful but still very aggressive. She bites. She's never very relaxed. Like your little guy, Elle, mine doesn't want much to do with people. She doesn't enjoy being petted or even talked to. She's so little (6 lbs) - I think when someone is standing over her, talking baby talk, she freaks out a bit.

So we hang in there with her and let her do her thing.
