Babiesmiles, when you say whaleboning in regards to corsets, does it mean the structure is actually composed of whalebones? (probably not I imagine, as BOY would that get the animal rights people up in arms!) But if not actual whalebones in the garment, what does the term refer to?

Does anyone besides me like corests because of the way they make you feel, physically and erotically as opposed to the way they make you look? Like I said above, they don't do much for my shape visually, but they make me feel divinely submissive and restricted. Wearing one laced up very tightly also helped me understand why Victorian women were always fainting all over the place.

In my mind they are a form of punishment or a reminder. I think they are pretty but wearing one for me would never be something that i thought made me look nice or feel good because of how and why i have worn one in the past.

Origionally the stays were made of whalebone, but now the off the rack corsets tends to have plastic stays; the custom fitted ones tend to have spiral steel stays. I believe you can still get real whale bone corsets, however, they cost in the thousands of dollars.

And, with the leather ones, there's the added aroma of leather - drives my husband crazy.

Same but opposite. I mean, I love the look, don't get me wrong. But I feel somehow kind of armoured when I have one on, especially the leather ones.

Thats another awesome thing about corsets you know its making you look beautiful on the outside but physically you can feel the restriction. My little ounce of control over my own body if I had one. The feel of the fabric is another thing that gets to me satin or denim or something else.

I simply found the word in the dictionary , and I get lost in translation evidently !!

I think the Seduce's explanation is correct , once ( in 1800 's) the supports of corsets were really made of whalebones ... then even there are obviosly other materials to bone a corset this name just got stuck on it .

From a male viewpoint

Seeing a woman in lingerie in general is like seeing her in a more intimateway. Movies know that showing a woman who is about to be killed will be sexier if she is in a nightgown. Old movies, which I love more often wopuld have the woman taking a bubble bath, even if the bubbles are so thick that seeing even the hint of flesh below is impossible. And the water came up to the upper shoulder and no breast was shown, not even the gentle slpoe.

Seeing a nude woman is wonderfully sexual but seeing the same woman in lingerie that is see thru is more sexual, in a way.

For those of you into corsets and the whole outfit. What is it about them that makes you hot inside or make you want to just grab the person and fuck them silly.

For me a corset is a type of restriction and bondage. Not only are they sexy but you are constantly aware of whats on you and it is almost as if it is a sense of control that you have very little control of. That and i think they are absolutely beautiful. Still want that denim one...oh maybe someday.

My guy loves them too...he bought me a really nice leather one with some matching panties but the corset is a little small. I wear it anyway because he loves it so much but it is a smidge uncomfortable. Then again, it's the first corset I've had so maybe I only think it's small.

Thanks for the effort and the compliment, ShyGuy. I actually brought it into photoshop myself, and didn't like what the lighten effect did to it... kind of took away from the whole ambience. On glossy, it actually looks pretty great, just not really the ideal setting for showing off the details in the corset work. Anyway, it's coming down soon, so glad you had a chance to peek since you were the one who requested it.
