Ah! I just looked on the site. Apparently Alexis has bought supplies from them. They do give credit to her. Whew!

My all-time favorite corset that Alexis has made is here:

OMG, Etoile, that is GORGEOUS!!!! I can see why that's your favorite. (I think it's mine too. ;) ) She has a tremendous amount of skill, for sure! I'd probably want to shoot myself in the head after trying to line that up in the front like that. LOL

size issues??

I would love to have a corset...only problem is I have extremely large breasts ( wear a size i cup ) was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how I can find one in my size... and also curious of how it would look. Anyone very large chested who has worn one?

You'd need a custom one done. I'm a DD cup, so you can see in the photo I posted how I look. Even though a custom would cost more $$, for a great one, it will compliment you. You don't want to try and get one off the rack, and then find that you can't cinch it enough, or that your trying to overcompensate for your breasts.

You can get a corset that also has gussets in them to give you a bit more room as well. I'm trying to find a picture for you..... There are triangular pieces that are inserted to give your breasts a bit more room.

How much do hers run, Etoile?
Electra Designs corsets are $250-350, I think. She has a waiting list a mile long, though! Alexis's design and craftsmanship standards are almost completely unmatched; the only corsetière I know with similar standards is Joyce of Creations l'Escarpolette, and hers are usually $400-500. If I ever have the money, I'd get one from Alexis. You can find her website here: http://electradesigns.livejournal.com

I agree with coy_one, a custom would be best. Experienced corsetmakers are able to handle "odd" shapes easily, so even if the rest of you is tiny they will make something that fits you perfectly, bust and the rest of you too.

Another option might be an underbust if you are interested in that sort of thing. You can wear it with a bra that already fits you. I actually prefer underbusts myself, they're so much more comfortable! It is really hard to parallel park in an overbust...

Thank You!

thanks for all the info. Sounds like custom made is the way to go...now just gotta start saving my pennies.. Could you give me more info on the underbust etoile? Do you get yours from a particular place?

Wow, maybe I should just get on the waitlist now then! I'm a typical fashion-type. Tell me there's a waiting list, and I want it even more.

I like Meschantes the best. They give the best quality for the price, imho. I recommend buying off ebay. I have gotten all three of my Meschantes corsets (including 2 custom) though their eBay store. Some people complain about their customer service but I've never had a problem with them. They go as low as $99 for an off-the-rack underbust that's REALLY good quality. Customs usually start around $140 on eBay.

Another eBay seller who specializes in underbusts is Timeless Trends, hers are usually $100 on eBay. I've heard pretty good things about her products though I've never seen one myself.

For me, corsets accentuate the beauty of a woman's curves while simultaneously teasing onlookers about what is underneath

And the teasing is in no small part because you can't really touch what's underneath, in addition to not being able to see it! It's hard to get a nice soft hug from somebody in a corset.

A well-chosen corset acts as 'perfect packaging' for the female body. The tight waist further accentuates the lift-thrust of the bra portion, offering the twin mounds of pleasure while flaring the hips and drawing the eye at once to the lovely 'V' at the juncture of the creamy thighs. Add a heady scent, wild hairdo and a fetching smile and I am pretty much captivated for the next several hours.

I don't like corsets. Most of them always seem to be too tight. :/ But they seem to make men really easy to tease and control, though. ;)

I got the scoop from someone who used to make patterns for Frederick's! She said that when they were made in the U.S. they used 1/4" spiral steel bones, which is what you have. They took the operation overseas to save money, and she says they switched to plastic boning at that time. She thinks they might be using steel again in some corsets but she's not sure.

I remembered that I have an old Frederick's corset somewhere, I will have to try to find it so I can cut it up. Pretty sure it's got plastic though.

okay, so I went back to frederick's this weekend to buy the corset I tried on a month ago and they don't have it, so I looked at the others...every bloody one was made with plastic boning. :( Oh well.

I just ordered one today! It is going to be by Alexis Black of Electra Designs, you can see her work here. Her corsets normally run $300-400 and her waiting list is huge, but sometimes an order falls through and she has time to make a couple of "economy" corsets for $95. That's what I'm getting! It won't have a busk or a modest panel, and it'll have one bone instead of two for each pocket, but it will still have her outstanding craftsmanship and design. I'm so excited! It's going to be peacock blue, either a sturdy fabric if she has one or her peacock blue silk brocade, which has cherry blossoms on it.

I adore corsets. There's nothing like a tight-laced embrace binding my body into submission

I have a could of lingerie corsets, and I'd like to get a custom made leather one when I can afford it, but my absolute favorite time of the year is Ren-Faire. I get to pull out my beautiful burgundy lace and black corset and prance around with my breasts shoved into my face. Ah, good times...

An aquaintance of mine has "H" cups... She loves corsets...{And looks DAMNED good in them *grin*}
But...
She has given up on buying "off the shelf"... The two other choices being custom made at a prohibitive cost, or learning a new skill or two...She chose to learn the skills.
I've been sort of following her progress and I can tell you that the patterns are readily available, so are the materials, and the one or two specialized things you need {I.E. The "awl" used to make the holes for the front closure and the eyelets without breaking the threads in the fabric}.
She has told me that there is nothing involved in making one that anyone even reasonably competent shouldn't be able to do in short order..
*sigh*
LOVE women in corsets

P.S. One of the reasons she likes them so much...They alleviate the backache that so often goes with the large breasts.. As in "poof" it's gone.

I've considered this mainly because I'm crafty and frugal. Also, I'm losing weight so I don't want to spend a bunch of money on something and then not be able to wear it. Does she just get her patterns at fabric stores or does she order online? If so can you provide a link to her favorite patterns?

Actually, I am considering doing my own bras too. Even when I'm smaller I'm an "in-between" size compared to what is on the shelf at stores. I can see how the right bra and corset helps with pain. It makes such a difference.

Doh, never mind. I just found the corset making supply link Coy posted. However, it is always nice to find out what are people's favorite patterns. :rose:
