There's a simple solution to crime and in my view, one that we should try. All the feel good stuff around crime has proved useless, so perhaps it's time to try a simpler alternative and see if it has an effect. (Given the bulk of crime is recidivist and committed by the same people over and over again, one surmises this approach may well be effective.

Quite simply, what we should try is to execute every common law felon (murder, robbery - doesn't matter what, mayhem (which is malicious wounding), rape, larceny, arson, and manslaughter) on the first conviction and wipe out crime by wiping out criminals. Heck, add in illegal immigration and we won't even have to deport them.

Simple. Effective. Comprehensive. Let's see what effect that has on crime rates.
If you want to see how well that works look at states that have and don't have the death penalty. States without the death penalty have lower homicide rates than those that do. Over the last 20 years states with the death penalty have homicide rates between 50% to 100% higher than those that don't. Capital punishment brutalizes societies.

LOL, this proposed “system” has been done so many times. It never works and it leads to a fuckton of murder. It creates the illusion of a harmonious society because any victim is killed before they can complain.

First, this is unconstitutional… a large body of US law has explicitly recognized that executing someone for something less than murder is wrong. But let’s leave that alone.

Key problem with this take: it assumes most crimes are caught and punished.

Actual reality: most crimes are not caught because police are just random dudes wearing a uniform, no smarter and in fact often dumber.

What happens if you start punishing non-extreme crimes with murder: perpetrators will just start murdering their victims regardless of the crime. If execution or a life sentence is the punishment no matter the crime, you might as well kill your victims so that the chance of getting caught is less.

The fact is that the US is not “soft.” The US has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world. You’ve just been brainwashed by Epoch Times propaganda into believing that the US is soft. Those assholes give fuck all about the US, they just want you angry and Republican because they think republicans are more anti-China.

Get out of the California asian bubble. Right-wingers will just keep calling you “one of the good ones” right up to the point they burn down your house with you in it.
