I understand the circumstance in why it happened and even the Free Speach issues involved, I was just stating the fact that there are better ways to take care of the situation then what happened.


and yes, it may have been a thread killer, but in attempt to get back on topic...

Blue, I tried to ignore and let this go for the sake of the thread, but it's really been bothering me. I agree this isn't a morality board, and it's important not to judge. I also agree that most things should be dealt with in PMs.

However, I think most of us believe it's important to speak out against non-consensual acts, and things that do or could really hurt people. In many cases, I think it's appropriate to do it publicly primarily because (1) it informs people this community does not support non-consensual and illegal acts; (2) it's an important issue that is not talked about all too often, which hurts us all, and is a big slap in the face to many survivors; and (3) it educates or reminds people that things like sex with someone who's unable to give informed consent IS in fact rape (I've met a lot of people who don't know that), which could prevent it from happening in the future.

I certainly understand your points, and will keep them in mind in the future, but this issue hits too close to home for me and many others here not to speak out. I know what it's like, and have known women who have been assaulted and raped when they were unable to consent. I can only hope the women AM posted about didn't feel traumatized, and that AM and others will realize the gravity of being sexual with someone who can't give informed consent, avoid doing so in the future, or learn something.

My other hope is that people will take care to not get into a vulnerable position (not that there's ever any excuse for rape), and if this has or does happen to someone who reads this or a friend, they will be able to understand any negative effects, and get help.
