Dungeons & Dragons

Voices have been something I do my damndest to work on. But, we can't all be Mercer or Brennan Lee Mulligan. But we can do our damndest!

So true! I started watching Critical Role, then Covid hit and we found an online group to join. Never looked back!
I am horrible at voice. I try to do a little bit but my group doesn’t mind we have a good time :) we did quite DnD with the whole Hasbro stupidity. Lots of great games out there!

I won’t get into edition wars but I largely agree the 5e is the smoothest and most newbie friendly edition yet. I play it because that’s the group I got but in general I’d probably rather play a more narrative focused rpg. Or DCC if it just wanna look cool while killing monsters.
I love introducing players to a DCC character funnel!! Especially to people who have only played 5th ed! That first death is always fun! Lkl

I just learned about a game called Monster of the Week, that is more RP heavy. I'm curious if anyone has played that one!

We decided to stick it out, and luckily most of those issues were resolved

I have heard of it but never tried it.
I am currently running a game of Against the Dark Master. My groups in the old days used to play Middle Earth Role Playing with some Rolemaster added to it. Against the Dark Master is a lot like what we used to play. Still a bit crunchy but good. Before that my groups was playing a Forbiddne Lands campaign. Another great system with a cool world. Also ran a one shot in Dragonbane and which is a streamlined version of the old RuneQuest. Runequest 3rd edition and MERP were my favorite games back in the day.

Since 1980 played all versions except 4E (wasnt impressed/skipped it). Creature voices, accents and sounds are great fun to do whether as DM, player, ambience or voice over. Especially for cancer and other fund raising events... plus other seasonal and themed ones.
I feel like everyone skipped 4E, except for the poor souls who didn't know any better. And they switched to 5E once it came out.

The best part of 5e is all the people it has brought into the hobby. I grew up in the satanic panic of the 80’s. It is great to see the game so mainstream
During that time me and some friends tried to establish a D&D club at our high school in Mississauga ON but were told we weren’t allowed to do so due to parents’ concerns. 🤦🏻‍♂️

That's awesome and maybe took some courage? I hope you have a positive experience. 😊
It was a little nerve wracking but a lot of the group is patient. I really wish it met more consistently so I wouldn’t forget so much in between. And it’s fun. They should require costumes though.
