Eradicate all ideas from poetry

Ok ... I admit to my skittishness.
Well, don't be. Skittish. We are, once you get past the acrid rind, a pretty welcoming group.

I, for one, like debate about things, so your comments have been interesting to me. I'd like to think we're pretty open here to discussion of viewpoints on poetry. I may be wrong; I am often wrong. I suppose some would say I am always wrong.

That's OK. If I have made being stupid a career, I am not the only one.

The original post was deleted before I could read it. Was the OP saying:

Eradicate every instance of cliche, form, metaphor and symbol from poetry?

Say something using a poem that says nothing?

Say nothing using a poem that says something?

It's hard enough being a stream-of-consciousness narrative poet aka everyone who has ever uttered an 'I' in a poem and meant it.

Eh, all my poems are essentially me talking to myself while I'm high. Sounds alright over a guitar.
