Erm.. hi. A question-

What IS this place? I stumbled into it today, and am a bit confused.. is it like a GB, for am pic posters?

Anywho, HI!
Kind of like the GB, except there's far less high-school-level drama.

I keep hearing people saying that GB is a bad place and is full of high school drama, but if that's the case why post there if you think it's a bad place full of high school drama?

GB is not a bad place. It's merely a place where people pretend a lot. For various purposes.

Mostly the people who say that do not, in fact, post there. Myself, I like the the GB. I think it's great and that's why I read and post there.

ran, that's true, but don't you think that's also true of the whole site?

No, I don't think so, monique. You see, in AmPics, those of us who host threads, we give out info of our personality as well as little bits and pieces of our everyday life. Combined with the photos that we post, we give to our readers a pretty accurate idea of the kind of person that we are. Because it's all in one place, in our thread, and it's easy for anybody to check us out.

Now in GB it's so different. People don't have personal threads that run longer than a few pages. I'm sure that you've noticed how the same poster will post kind and compassionate in one thread and slam somebody in the next one using profanity and other slighting remarks for no apparent reason at all... and it all depends on whom they are posting to... is it one of those accepted by the 'inner circle'? or is it somebody we are all supposed to grill just for the heck of it?
In fact, the GB-ers look down their noses at AmPics and they tend to brag about how GB has no moderators.... but IMHO they are being way more moderated than us here in AmPics... they are moderated by their own selves, in their desperate seeking of falling in step with the views of the few 'select' ones, the old hands in GB who set the pace for everybody else.

Which I find ridiculous and sad.

Not all of them but certainly a very large number.

At least, that's how I see it... and, as always, I admit that I could be wrong :)

Oh okay. It just seems like by the way people type it sounds like they also post there.

I know the GB is not for me. If ran57gr is correct and it's a place for people to pretend then it explains why GB isn't for me. I'm not the type of person who likes to pretend.

Do they look down on AmPics just because they don't have moderators or because of other reasons too?

There is one person who is from GB that comes around here sometimes that I think is full of shit. I played his high school games for a while and then I put him on ignore. I figure we just don't like each other, so what's the point in the drama?

Oh well, I do leave an occasional post here and there in GB, I am always being me and I don't give a rat's ass how my posts are received. Whether I get slammed or not, I keep my cool and simply refuse to get involved in profanity or name calling.

Hi there Ms T ;)

It's a good thing that you are yourself and don't give a damn what other people say.

I'm a totally different person than you are. I tend to get upset easily and have a temper. If I were to post there I would be just as immature as those people who slam other people for their thoughts and opinions.

Like I said, I already stooped to their level in a post that was made here.

Well, they tend to call us "that forum" or "downstairs" and wring their hands over how we are all perverts over here, as well as how scary some of the PMs are in AmPics.
Which I found strange, because in five years that I have been posting in AmPics, I have received PMs that were mostly complimentary and civil. The few that were phrased poorly, I again replied to civilly and never heard from again. Certainly not one of those PMs I found scary in any way.

I'm sure some of them lurk over here and "perv" the pics just like everyone else. Of course, they would never admit it.

Hee heee... bet that they do!
Some of them admit it openly... but there's others who'd rather die a Lit-death than admitting that they stooped that low  :D

Okay. That's rather odd. The one time I did try to post over there I've noticed a few of them had picture threads themselves.

Also, why would you post on a message board that is meant for talking about sex, if you think it's perverted?

I don't really like the PM's that I get that are only sexual, but I don't get bent out of shape about it or think they are a pervert since this is generally a message board about sex. I don't think I have a right to think anyone is a pervert as long as they aren't refering to a minor or an animal.

Yep, I also draw the line at minors, animals and violence of any kind between non consenting adults.

Obviously it's an adult site (NOT a porn board, imho) and we are all supposed to be much more open about sex and our sexual preferences here. Why some people think of it as perverted, it's a mystery to me :D

Oh ya, I also draw the line at violence. Well sord of.

If someone talks about a fetish they have of being dominated or being the dominate one I don't mind so much because it's two adults agreeing to do it. I don't like hearing about wanting to actually truely rape someone though. I think rape is one of the lowest crimes you can do.

Hey, I was just browsing through your thread. So Shoefetishguy is your hubby and you got a whole menagerie of pets at home. Loved the pics, very cute, especially the baby one caught in the blinds :D

I've lived in Naples, Italy as a kid, I've visited Italy (the north) on several occasions through the years, either for business or pleasure. It is a really wonderful country and wonderful people. Definitely a place for you two to visit sometime :)

Thank you! :)

I do love my animals! :D

We went to Sicily in October for a late honeymoon. I LOVED there. The only thing I was disapointed in was the sand on the beach and not being able to hear old fashioned Italian music. I did feel like I was right at home.

I've always got asked if I was of Italian origion and I would always say no because my mom told me my father was Polish. When I turned 19 my mom told me that my father was between a Polish American and an Italian American. She had the Polish American take a blood test and it came out negative that he was my father, so it's only logical that that my father is the Italian American. My mom never told him about me because he went to jail when she found otu she was pregnant with me. I've alwasy LOVED the Italian culture and I always wanted to be adopted into an Italian family, so it all made sense to me when I found out my father was an Italian American.

I still want to visit Rome, Venice, and Naples. I thought about Milan, but then I found out they aren't really traditional in that city. I like the old fashioned Italian origion.

You are lucky to have grown up in Naples! :)

I know this will be hard to believe, but many many many moons ago, when I had just started posting on lit, the GB was one of only seven forums, and the general forum was considered a fun and nice place to be.

I spent three and a half years in Naples. I am an army brat, my dad was sent there in 1964, I was 7yo at the time.
I was in Rome two years ago with my hubby, our daughter and another couple with their kids. A truly amazing city, you'll love it! :)

I believe you. I used to lurk ever since I joined and I was impressed by the humor and intelligence. How it came to become so bitter and malicious nowadays I really do not understand.

Oh and... since you mentioned beaches... I am rather proud of our beaches here in Greece, I hope you'll consider them as a possible summer vacation sometime :D

I guess one good thing about being a child of a parent who is in the mlitary is that you could possiably see the world.

My mom was in the army, but it was before I was born. She never got to see the world, but she did get to work in the pentagon.

Did you get to see any other countries while you were a kid?

It started when there were periods with good and bad mood there. And My thoughts is that all the good people moved to other forums the day the good mood didn't get back, I know that's one of the reasons I hardly never go there.
