Chauderlos, I don't remember seeing the pregnancy shibari attachment previously. I thought your message was referring to the picture you posted in your previous reply -- the woman suspended and stretched backward. I was wondering, "how do you know she's pregnant? My tummy has mounds like that all the time!"

I have long been fond of the following Hellenistic sculpture at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, "Statuette of a Veiled and Masked Dancer." Bronze, about 8 inches high.

To me, it looks like she is almost completely bound and gagged in shimmering silk, swaying helplessly, perhaps for the pleasure of a kinky prince...

I couldn't resist not slicing these together almost in tribute to posts of the last few pages of this thread.

I personally find breathtaking is the semi distressed hair of the subjects and suggestion that it had been stylized before. The bare skin against snow.......hmmmn

Just laughing at myself here however as I post these comments as its summer in Australia and I am feeling quite hot.....smiles......wonder if that is in fact the allure of snow on skin....

I wouldn't bet my last dollar on it, but this could be by some Pre-Raphaelite, E. Burne-Jones, D.G. Rossetti... Some former art-student around here could confirm this...

This makes me think about John Singer Sargent... Attached is the Portrait of Madame X ... The version that can be seen today in New York, and a picture of the original painting... see the difference?
Included is a shot Nicole Kidman did for Vogue a few years ago...
