The teacher was appalled.
"I... I can't put this up, my God!" he said. It was 1970, of course. The Vietnam thing was not over. Nixon had said "Opposition to the war in this country is the biggest single weapon working against the U.S." The teacher was already on a list with the FBI, as all subscribers to the (English-language) periodical Soviet Life were. (He taught the Russian language and needed sources for Russian culture.)
"But I'll take them! Can I have thirty?"
There was one in the teacher's lounge on A wing for years.
LOL That triggered a memory on the other side of the ocean. I did a history paper on Lenin and Bolshevism. That would have been 1970 too. All of 16 years old.
I don't remember the grade but the teacher was very pleased with my choice of subject.
